Overview
Lypenna
The Lypenna are most often found in the forests and mountains of Rakthorr, having developed wings and feathered features in the same style as the birds that they share their hunting grounds with. Their ability to fly grows as they age, with adults able to perform impressive combat stunts that only inflate the reputation of their people. Strong, and suave, the Lypenna are fragile due to their hollow bones, thanks to their avian nature.
Traits
-2 CON
Lightweight: Lypenna have their fly speed reduced to zero if they wear heavy armor, and reduce their fly speed by half in medium armor. They cannot fly in medium armor until after level 5.
+2 DEX, +2 WIS
[Monstrous Humanoid]
30ft land speed
30ft fly speed, clumsy maneuverability
Birdfolk Wings: The Lypenna's forearms are feathered and structured as wings with stronger limbs. They may use them as wings, or as arms, but not both at the same time. They may not use their limbs as arms while airborne unless they have acquired another means of flight.
Skill Training: Lypenna always consider Acrobatics and Knowledge: Nature class skills.
Combat Training: The Lypenna learn hunting and combat skills as they grow up. They gain a permanent +2 dodge bonus to their AC, and are always proficient with bows and Lypenna talon blades.
Lypenna Talons: The Lypenna's feet are like those of a bird of prey, and are often used in combat. They have two talon attacks, dealing 1d4 damage each. They are also capable of using Lypenna talon blades, but finding other weapons designed for their use is difficult.
Talon blades cost 350 gp per set. One set of talon blades fits over one foot. The blades give a +1 enhancement bonus on talon attack rolls, increase the damage of that attack by one die step (normally to 1d6), and change their talons from a natural weapon to a light slashing weapon. These blades may be enhanced like a normal masterwork weapon for the normal costs.
Advancement:
Level 5: Advanced Flight - The Lypenna increase their fly speed to 40ft, and their maneuverability to Average. Additionally, they gain the following ability:
Falcon's Shriek (SU) - Once per hour as a standard action, the Lypenna can emit a shrill shriek. Any creature capable of hearing the shriek must make a Will saving throw (DC 10 + 1/2 the Lypenna's character level + the Lypenna's CHA modifier) or become shaken for 1d4 rounds. If they pass the saving throw, they are immune to the Falcon's Shriek for 24 hours. Creatures that are already shaken that fail their saving throw instead become frightened for 1d4 rounds. This is a sonic, mind-affecting effect. Allies of the Lypenna make their saving throw with a +10 bonus.
Level 10: Combat Bravado - The Lypenna gain the ability to use bows while flying. They must be at least 20ft in the air to do this, and must succeed a DC 15 Fly check or fall 10ft at the end of the maneuver. While airborne, the Lypenna gain a +3 circumstance bonus to their attack and damage rolls while using any weapon with which they are proficient. Additionally, they automatically confirm all critical hits made while airborne.
Level 15: Aerial Mastery - The Lypenna increase their airborne circumstance bonus to +6, increase their fly speed to 60ft, and their maneuverability to Perfect.
