Overview

Querian Elves

Description

Sapient humanoids with long natural lives and slow aging processes. They come in many shapes and colors, with long ears and gemstone eye colors being a staple.

face

Looks

Body shape

An Elf is often slim, but they can almost put on as much meat as Humans. Males and females alike rarely have particularly broad shoulders or hard jawlines, and small hips are a universal trait of males, though Elf females tend to grow sideways after reaching adulthood a little faster than Human females.

Skin colors

High Elves, the palest, often have identical skin tones to Vylcorran Humans. Strangely, High Elves are the only Elf type that can get freckles

Sun Elves often have bronze, tanned-looking skin. They seem almost immune to sunburning.

Drau, the Dark Elves (sometimes Ash Elves), have skin ranging from ashen to charcoal, with pale palms and soles.

Grurun, the Wood Elves, have olive skin and seem to tan quite nicely, to the point where their complexion is all that saves them from being mistaken for Sun Elves.

General height

Most elves max out around six and a half feet tall, but Drau tend to strike just a little under that ball. Not always.

Physical variance

The Elves of Queria have long been divided into many different subraces, but the origins of each are vague, and the subject of much debate.

While all Elves descended from the Sylvani of old, events of the Black War are said to have had a hand in their current states. Some say that instead, curses or blessings were placed upon tribes or the regions they lived.

Traits

Weaknesses

An Elf that has struck around 90 years old, provided they live that long without debilitating diseases, wounds or famines, will begin to decline rapidly in magical potency. Their affinity to interact with magic will wane until it is gone.

If they were intensive magic users in their youths, this will lead to increased mental deterioration over the next few decades, as Humans experience, until they are senile. Physical deterioration progresses at half this rate, meaning Elves who live too long can become crazy before they are decrepit

groups

Culture

Economics

There is a distinct class system in Wielkaradosc's cities, though it primarily rests in the capital. Small and isolated towns enjoy local economies with trade and coin, while working-class, city-dwelling Elves experience what you'd expect from a society that has a nobility.

People who have been guilty of certain crimes are forever paid a little less than their innocent counterparts. This ensures good people don't starve - most of the time - but leaves little room for people in a bad way to pick themselves back up.

Favorite foods

Nothing fascinating comes to mind, but there's a Grurun recipe involving a very spicy mushroom sauce over venison.

Beliefs

To be immersed in magic, and to possess great magical ability, is to be closer to the Five Divines, who are believed to have given magic to the world in its hour of need. It is thought that this gift should be used for the glory of the Divines, and so the Elven military is largely religious.

They also believe that false gods should be struck down, but that's a fairly low priority interest since cults in Wielkaradosc don't usually get very big.

Technologies

The Elves invented a great many things including longbows, sun-steel and swords with working magical foci inside.

Traditions

Traditionally, the first name of an Elf's father will be their middle name, and their mother's will be their surname. This applies almost solely on Wielkaradosc, where tradition plays a large part in law; Elves on Vylcorres scarcely adhere to this tradition, instead following the Human tradition of family names.

History

Notable events

There's way too much to put down, but see the timeline on the main RP page for a few of them.

Never forget the Orc refugee massacre that lead to a race war, though.
