The embodiment of the positive fundamentals of the universe. Angels are the sentient quotas of the positive energy split from the proto-universe during the Act of Creation.

Angels typically style themselves as arrangements of light and sound. They have an affinity for mathematical simplicity, and favour sine-wave type patterns, often resulting them appearing as softly ringing orbs of light.

When Angels take physical form they favour ones which reflect humanity, sometimes with the addition of wings or other organs.

Angels promote growth, and will attempt to influence the universe into becoming larger and more diverse. Angels often divest their own power into the mortal plane in order to promote life and evolution.

Angels are arranged into Hosts; Armies which are headed by a single God, up to a hundred Greater Angels, and with many thousand of Lesser Angels.

Angels favour a technological simplicity, communicating telepathically or "face"-to-"face" where possible. Angels typically arrange the history they witness on unchangeable tablets formed from their own beings, which they take great pride in maintaining.

The Act of Creation split the proto-universe into a Positive Force, a Negative Force, and a Void between them.

Fundamentally at odds with one another, and wishing to claim the void for their own, the Positive Force and Negative Force each embodied themselves as an entire dimension, an immense God the likes of which have never been seen since.

The exactly equal gods clashed, each sundering the other.

The millions of Angels which formed from the fragments of the Positive Force instantly worked to cooperate. From their dimension they crafted Heaven, ordered it and themselves, and swiftly promoted many of their number into positions of Godhood, and then Greater Angels.

Once ordered the Angelic Hosts entered the Mortal Plane, where they were set upon by the Demonic Hordes, thus began the War of Cosmic Founding. The force of their conflict laid waste to thousands of both sides, and from their corpses the first stars of the universe were born.

Eventually the Heavenly Forces came to realise that mortal beings had risen in the universe, and their unstained souls could return to the Positive Force. Angels sought to influence the mortals to altruism, something which brought them into frequent conflict with the Negative Force. Eventually these conflicts threatened to destroy the new universe.

The Apocalypse Accords were agreed with the Negative faction; both Angels and Demons agreed to withdraw from the Mortal Plane, and leave mortals to their own actions. In a millennium each side would be given the chance to face the other once more via a proxy champion, and it was agreed that whichever side lost would withdraw from the Mortal Plane permanently.

The Angels chose to act via prophesy, and nominated to invest a human with near complete access to the Positive Force. The human would be sent on a quest to defy the Demons' champion. Unfortunately the human champion failed to confront the Demons', and the Apocalypse concluded with the total domination of the mortal plane by the Demons.

With large amounts of neutral mortal energy being drawn into the Negative Force the demons quickly became powerful enough to force their entry into Heaven. The Gods were destroyed, as were most of the Lesser Angels. The remaining Lesser Angels were enslaved by the demons, while the Greater Angels were either enslaved, split into Lesser Angels, or fled across the cosmos, abandoning Heaven entirely.

Most surviving Angels now operate as civil servants to the Demonic Dominon, suffering eternally as they defy their nature by sustaining the hellish bureaucracy which dominates mankind.
