Overview
Ibsi
The river goddess of the Ibsaa, whose name they took once they settled along the Khammet River.
History
Once the Ibsaa settled along the Khammet River, their tribal leader is said to have received a vision from Ibsi, stating that they had reached their land, and that she was their guardian goddess.
Beliefs
Water is considered the most holy possible thing, and is never wasted. The Ibsaa are experts of irrigation for this reason. Ibsi takes the form of the river itself. Waters breaking before birth are seen as the spirit of Ibsi manifesting into the world from women.
Temples along the river, with baths for ceremonies.
Water must never be wasted, and all women are especially blessed by Ibsi, and hence are entitled to more.
Traditions
On coming of age at the age of eighteen, Ibsaa are bathed in a temple bath, and blessed. Women are given an addition to this ceremony, with each given red bands around their forelegs to symbolize the blood bond they have with Ibsi through pregnancy.
Priestesses are held underwater until they lose consciousness, then brought back up. This ritual is symbolic of granting one's life to Ibsi.
