Beliefs
-Dofuans believe the auras they see are souls, and because they only see the auras of other Dofuan, everything and every person is soulless.
-Dofuans believe that the soul is separate from the body, and that the body is merely a vessel for the soul. Killing is considered a merciful act, but only after one has outlived its usefulness. For example, killing children is condemned, but killing elders is not.
-Killing another race is considered helpful, as they only have an external moral compass that tells them when the actions they take are wrong; for example, family, or religion. Thus, without the internal moral compass, one is lost, and killing them is an act of mercy that leads them to the creation of their soul by ritual killing, and thus to be born in the Dofuan race.
-Every Dofuan has a soul. It starts off small, like a maggot. Every reincarnation brings the soul closer to Heaven. It is believed the kings and rulers are the closest to Above, and thus, worshiped as such. Kings rule by a Divine Right of sorts, and any words against them are words against Above, and is resulted in banishment to Below. Souls banished to Below are no longer eligible to go to the Above. Souls are no "recycled" once they enter Above.
-Spirits come from and live in the auroras. Spirits can be one of four domains: creation, destruction, knowledge, and emotion. All spirits are represented by an animal, which are represented by a section of the domain. The spirit's first domain is either creation or destruction, and a second domain is either knowledge or emotion. Ex: the Hare is "Creation, Emotion: love." The Dolphin is" Creation, Knowledge: Music."
-Due to the nature of birth and upraising of many Dofuan countries, death is a welcome act that frees he burden of life and society of the old generation and gives the burden to the new generation. An assisted death is allowed in many societies due to overcrowding. Elder suicide is also allowed and not frowned upon, as long as it is done quietly and privately.
-Vertinnes do not worship the dead. Many prefer to burn the body, bu a burial is allowed if the body is under rocks or snow in an unknown location.
Traditions
Ritual Killing, which is the process of converting a non-dofuan into a dofuan for their next life. This process involved killing the person or thing.
