Overview
Chao Deorum
earth but there's gods and demons and shit
urban fantasy/science fiction
History
so basically there's demigods>gods>high gods and imps>demons>demon kings; high gods and demon kings evolved at the same time and created everything- if something in the universe is chaotic/strange it was a demonic creation (i.e. black holes), but if it seems orderly it was a divine creation (i.e. earth-like planets)
demons and gods are born from high gods and demon kings while imps/demigods are either given their powers or are born with them when a (high) god/demon (king) fathers/mothers them. Gods and Demons have a sort of mishmash of personalities- there are gods of violence and chaos and demons of intelligence and honor, the distinction comes mostly from how they affect things (i.e. a chaos god would create chaos only where something like a violent change is necessary for a new beginning, but a chaos demon would create chaos with the intention of ruining evolution towards peace)
humans evolved naturally (i.e. separate from divine/demonic powers) and that's when gods/demons began to fill roles for the humans, slotting themselves into parts created by human myths and religions- previously all gods and demons were unnamed, until humans began naming them (this is why summoning a god/demon is near impossible and demigods who were gifted their powers are rare)
Rules
high gods and demon kings- exist fully outside of any laws and do not have energy they need to worry about wasting- secluded creatures, and rare, though
demons/gods- cannot make great changes without the aid of others/destroying themselves in the process; have a certain level of energy they can expend to create/destroy and must rest to recover it
imps/demigods- if their powers are gifted, they must make a sacrifice to their patron to access them, nowhere near as powerful as a god/demon; cannot make large changes even with the aid of a group (i.e. where a group of demons could create a large planet, a group of imps could not even make one pluto's size)
natural born imps/demigods are slightly more powerful and require smaller/less intense sacrifices, their powers are affected by their emotions- the stronger the emotion, the greater the power they can tap into- could theoretically create a pluto-size planet if in a large group, though it would destroy them all (hasn't been attempted)
normal earth technology, slightly above in the case of imps/demigods who can modify their own technology to improve it- though unless on a pilgrimage (a mission given to them by their patron) the changes cannot be extravagant, as privacy and remaining undetected is key to their existence
natural (Earth) laws of physics apply to all humans- gods/demons are outside of these laws and demigods/imps can bend them (although not ridiculously so- they cannot completely defy gravity or do anything like stop time)
