In the beginning there were only the divine and dark realms, when the divine realm tried to create a new plain of existence, they created the realm of fire ( a land filled with divine flames) and the land of arcane creatures and magic. When the Dark realm attempted they created the land of ice (the frost of death and sacrificed souls) and the realm of dark creatures and black magic. only when they banded together they could crate a harmony of sorts and created the human, and dwarves realms.

a barrier surrounds the realms and only the gods, demons light and dark creatures, and anybody from the human royal family can use magic freely.

if a regular mortal gives up the purity of their soul(by killing a loved one), they can learn magic, but having that knowledge can be too much for a person to learn at once.

The magic can be elemental (Fire, Water, Earth, Air) physical (conjuring objects, or manipulating gravity) or dark (necromancy, alchemy)
