Humanity split into four evolutionary categories: sky, they have wings that resemble birds and use that to organize their cast system; water, they have mermaid like tails and have a stable system of split aristocracies; underground, they have slightly scrawny bodies and claw like fingers, they live in an ancient form of democracy; originals, they are the same as normal people and live mainly in an aristocracy. When they split they lost contact with one another. Eventually the sky and the water made a truce, the underground and the water made a truce, and the sky and underground started speaking to make a truce. The originals have made the other evolutionaries into myths and legends, forgetting that they ever truly existed.

Fantasy

Long ago four kingdoms split because of differences in how they would evolve. They eventually cut communications and forgot about one another except for legends and stories passed through the generations.

The water, earth, and sky know the names of the others in each others terms but do not know the originals terms for them.
