Overview
Arid
A smaller, desert planet. Approximately 40% water. Jungles and wetland are few and far between, housing mostly the wealthy. Because of this, most jungles are full of large mansions and castles. Larger bodies of water are mostly owned by governmental power, and many wars have been fought over ownership of the seas. The 3 suns keep the days hot, and the 2 moons keep the nights bright.
Fantasy/Western
History
Evidence would suggest that the oldest intelligent race to walk the deserts of Arid were brass dragonborn in the planes and red dragonborn in the mountains. Aquatic dragonborn (black, bronze, gold, and green) are much less common, and have faced discrimination for their sense of ownership of the water. Though very few aquatic dragonborn tribes still exist, the stereotype of them being water thieves still exists in most of the world. Even less common are polar dragonborn (silver, white) considering how few snowy regions exist on Arid. Those that do exist have been long avoided due to their extreme height, and few still live in within them.
The 5 continents of the world vary greatly in size and culture. The largest of the 5, Baquss, is home to the least water and the hottest deserts. Though dragonborn are the indigenous people of the continent, humans are just as common as them in the current year. Other common races include dwarves and warforged. It is theorized that the large warforged population was created as servants by the older brass dragon tribes, and fewer are produced in the current day. Warforged face enforce slavery upon creation, and can only be freed legally if it is the will of their creator or current owner. Nicer Warforged look much closer to humans and elves, while cheaper ones are much more robotic. Baquss
Rules
Like Earth, but with magic :-)
Magic has existed for as long as life has on Arid. Common-folk may be able to cast cantrips or 1st level spells, and scholars spend their entire careers working towards 4th-level magic. Stories of champions and old heroes only cover spells as high as 6th level. Despite all of this, the potential for greater magic exists within the weave as long as the caster has the will.
Technology varies from place to place, but the more developed countries are home to American Civil War era technology, including steam-powered locomotives and repeating firearms. Much of this technology is enhanced by the world's access to magic and the weave, creating flame-shooting revolvers, acid-spitting shotguns, and other magic weaponry. Rumors of greater technology such as gauss-rifles and floating cities pique the interests of schoolchildren and scientists alike.
