The Other have been said to have vanished from the Earth upon the Split. Legend has it that at least one remains, deep in slumber, who will return some day to end.... Something. What, the tales cannot agree.
There are three varieties of witches, none of whom get along with the others. Each variety thinks that they are the true witches, and that they should have all the power that is spread amongst witches. The first variety is Fae-Born witches, hybrids between human and fae. The second variety is Pact witches, who get their power from pacts with gods, angels, fae, or demons. Some bond with each other, some bond more with the creature type they've pacted with. These are the most common, as almost anyone can make a pact. The third and rarest variety of witch is the Gift witch, a human born with powers of their own without any other magical creature in their bloodline. These are usually the strongest and have the least predictable power spread. They also usually live the least long.
Just what it says on the bottle. This includes any sufficiently diluted hybrids such that there is next to no trace of magical creature in their blood, and no magical ability to speak of. They are generally pawns, if anything, in the machinations of the various other races. Most do not even know that magic exists.
Gods are largely in slumber now, engorged on the offerings of devoted humans. They have retained the largest portion of magic after the Split, though they do not now use much of it. They are fueled by the beliefs, faiths, hopes, prayers, and sacrifices of humans. Waning interest on the part of gods and humans have contributed together to the fading of the gods.
These are angels who have somehow broken the rules of their gods, whether they knew those laws existed or not. They lose all access to their god power source, and all access to whatever realm that god exists in. They maintain only the small magic that was theirs before they pledged to their god. Fallen look like humans, except for the scars that they received upon Falling, where they lost whatever non-human appendages they may have had as angels. These scars constitute a weak point for the Fallen, and they guard them jealously. Generally, if one touches this scar, they are granted access to all of the Fallen's memories, and often their abilities until they stop touching the scar (harder to stop than you would think). It varies what happens after this. Fallen, like humans, are mortal.
Unlike the rest of the pure magic races, Fae bound themselves to physical bodies upon the Split. They are essentially immortal, though their forms are not entirely immune to the touch of decay and time. This is exacerbated in the presence of various elements, including iron, salt, and specific herbs. They often heavily rely on glamours to maintain their ideal appearances. The very, very old have needed to repair themselves beyond their glamors, to the point that some now essentially are trees or other natural entities. They are least able to keep up with modern technological advances, and generally break them.
Demons exist mainly in nonphysical planes, and cannot easily manifest on Earth as the humans know it without making pacts, deals, or other arrangements with Earth-bound creatures. Contrary to popular belief, not all demons are bad. However, most that bother with the effort of creating bonds are, at the very least, tricksters concerned largely with increasing their personal power. They are extremely varied in nature and ability.
Angels, while they exist on nonmaterial planes, can easily interact with the physical world. They are the instruments of the gods, bound forever to their will. It is the angels that carry out the desires of gods. They maintain a small pool of power for themselves; the vast majority of their strength comes from their god. This being said, their Sources are waning, and they are hungry for more power and will fight anything they can to get it. They must be careful, however, for the slightest misstep can cause them to Fall from the grace of their god. This is not a rare occurrence, and so several gods allow the ranks of their angels to be refilled from specific passed humans.
