Overview
Kobayashi Maru
Sci-Fi, Daikaiju, Toku
A world where humanity faces extinction from "kaiju" (giant monsters).
History
Much of history is akin to Earth's.
The world peace was broken one day long ago when an unknown, gigantic creature emerged from offshore [REDACTED], traveling inward toward civilization. Though local armed forces were quick to respond, their assaults failed to inflict any damage; they were mostly ignored as the creature made its way through cities, demolishing everything in its path. Despite how futile it seemed, the people fought with everything they had, until after eight days the monstrosity was finally slain. By the time it had been killed, a path had been cleared through the first town, three cities had been reduced to rubble, and the casualties totaled in the tens of thousands.
Since that day, humanity has managed to survive against what they've come to call "daikaiju," or giant monsters. Though once only occasional, the number of kaiju attacks and encounters has escalated in recent years, and mankind across the world and culture has come to view them differently. Some see the monsters as deities, and have taken to worshiping specific ones. Others believe them to be instruments of God, sent to punish mankind for its sins. Still others believe man and monster can learn to coexist, much like man and animal. Then there are those who view the monsters as just that - monsters - and something that needs to be exterminated.
Whatever their beliefs or backgrounds, all agree that the world will never be the same.
Rules
UNDECIDED
Similar to Earth's; square-cube law doesn't apply to kaiju. Mecha fare similarly, but are never much larger than Earth's kaiju.
A mix of modern and futuristic. Power plants and electricity are in use. Energy-based weaponry exists, but is not widespread. What few beam weapon technologies exist are used almost exclusively by armed forces and or military vehicles.
