History

History

Telica was originally divided into three countries, Evica, Kepia, and Erios. Evica was a human empire, Kepia is a werewolf democracy, and Erios was a fairy monarchy. The Great Divide was a war sparked from fear. Evica was fearful of fairies and werewolves and all the powers they possess. Emperor Nerva Barone’s first move was against the warriors of Kepia. The Siege of Esterwood lasted nine days before Chief Pekka Gil led a revolt, driving the humans out.

Fearing for the future, Emperor Nerva ordered another attack, one that greatly reduced Kepia’s borders. However, Kepia regrouped and came back stronger.

While the conflict was raging between Evica and Kepia, The fairy queen Eileen was scrambling with what to do in response to the obvious incoming attack on Erios. The debate was on whether to come to Kepia’s aid, or put all their resources towards Erios’ defenses.

A human, Casimir Lyndon, started spreading word about his “batteries'', a mechanism that could allow fairies to remove their wings to look more human and still have access to their magic. A portion of the population did remove their wings, but they were then exiled to the Northern half of Erios, now called Lesray, which they made an oligarchy. The fairies who removed their wings are now called elves.

Casimir inspired many others of all different races to experiment with minerals and herbs and other elements to figure out how they interact with the innate magic of the fairies, elves, werewolves, and the rest of the world. Those people are called witches and are allowed to settle in Silith, a collection of cities and villages in Lesray.

By the time Emperor Nerva’s forces made it to the former Erios- now Draya (the fairies) and Lesray- Kepia had already brought Evia to the verge of collapse. One battle against Draya did kill Queen Eileen, leaving the then Princess Titania in charge of the kingdom, but the next proved Queen Titania’s wit and dismantled Evica for good.

Evica now exists only as a lawless territory. The human villages still exist, but they’re too violent to control. Over the years, they’ve calmed down towards outsiders. Now, newcomer or old friend, you’d get the same treatment.

Following the Great Divide, Queen Titania and the Elven Council signed a peace treaty. Though the tension still persists, politically they have entered an era of peace.

Linette Lyndon, Casimir Lyndon’s daughter, married and had a child with Hadiya, someone also fascinated with witchcraft. Hadiya starts experimenting with the child about when the child turned two. They implanted her with herbs and ground up minerals regularly, hoping that the child’s body would begin to replicate those elements organically. They were proven correct, and then put one half of a battery, the Flare Stone, inside the child’s arm. It was then that Linette saw the bandages and discovered what her partner had done. That night, Linette and the child- Mallory- went missing.

After many mysterious attacks, all the elven cities and strongholds have been completely wiped-out. It is currently unclear whether there are any survivors.

Magic System

Fairies (Coralie and Red): Fairies are humanoid creatures born with wings and pointed ears. Their wings act as “batteries”, powering their magic. They can survive if their wings are removed (as a human can without an arm- provided it’s properly treated), but they lose all access to their magic. In addition, their wings also give them the power of basic flight. They can’t control what additional power they gain from their wings, nor when that power will manifest, but it generally should be apparent around six years of age.

Elves (Lake, Nadia, and Anna): All elves descended from a group of fairies who voluntarily removed their own wings. During the Great Divide, the humans feared the fairies and tried to wipe them out. Casimir Lyndon, a human, discovered a way to use the minerals and herbs found naturally in the earth to mimic wings. Elves still use these batteries today, though they still take more of a toll on the user. They are humanoid characters with pointed ears.

Nymphs (Corinne and Mari): Nymphs are the offspring of an elf and a fairy. Genetically, they are no different than either, but due to the conflict between the fairies and elves following the Great Divide, they are treated like outcasts. The fairies feel like the elves betrayed them by removing their wings and leaving the nation, and the elves feel like the fairies are fools for clinging to their old traditions. Nymphs are humanoid creatures with wings and pointed ears.

Half-Elves (Jezebel and Jayda): Half-Elves are the offspring of a human and an elf. They physically look like a human, but they still have access to magic if they use a battery. They, like most elves, only have slight resistance to their own magic.

Half-Fairies (Bazza and Fiore): Half-Fairies are the offspring of a human and a fairy. They are humanoid creatures with wings, but their ears are normal. Additionally, their wings are too weak to support flight. They can still have access to magic without the use of a battery, but their resistance to their own magic isn’t as strong as most fairies.

Werewolves (Zelde): Werewolves are humanoid creatures with fangs, fluffy dog-like ears in the place of human ears, and padded claws on their hands and feet. They usually live separate from the rest of society because of the events of the Great Divide, but it’s not unheard of to see them in other nations since they tend to stay out of major conflicts. Werewolves have increased speed and stamina, enhanced senses, and strength.
