History

Welcome to the world of Viori.
Years have passed, wars have come and gone, generations of family have gone on and on. The world is at peace for now, at least that's how it seems.

The three pillars of old stand tall and are guarded - as they always have been - in the three capital cities of the world.

To the north is the cold city of Icemoor, to the west, Dartham, and to the south-east, Ravenshire, as gloomy as ever.
It was decided a long time ago that these three cities were to become the captials of the land, due to the pillars of old.

These pillars are not and never have been magical; though depending on whom you ask, some believe they are blessings left behind by the gods to keep the world of Viori safe.
These pillars are so high that they can be seen from very far away, this being the reason why the cities that were built around them are so important.
These are beacons of safety and guidance and now lead those who may be lost to the main cities of the world, to the hubs of hustle and bustle. The sanctuaries.

A strong alliance connects these three cities. After the great war in the north, a treaty was made to ensure the protection of these pillared cities was maintained to keep the sanctuary ideal alive.
The war in question was years and years ago, and was due to a smaller city wanting the recognition, fame and importance that Icemoor had, this smaller city, was the city of Faygarde, Just to the east of Icemoor. Trying to take Icemoor for his own, the leader of Faygarde had failed as he had hoped this would be an easy take-over, not expecting Ravenshire to aid them and push his forces back. In the end, Faygarde was destroyed for good in the struggle, leaving the former city's glory in rubble, it's leader, Belan Milner, falling with it.

A few years later, another city tried the same with Dartham, seeing as it was much further from Ravenshire and Icemoor, they had hoped to be successful and eventually take Dartham in the name of Rinwen Ash'roath. However, seeing as Dartham was much a much larger city, Rinwen's forces were ultimately crushed, though they left their land untouched, the city she came from safe and sound.

Though years have passed since this incident, the treaty is there to protect the main cities of the world, meaning that if called on for help, each city must send forces to defend the city in need. For now, the cities remain as sanctuaries, peace is restored.

In the years passing since these events, nothing much has happened and life is moving as usual, that is until the latest word on the street got out; Apparently King Alistair of Dartham City has been keeping himself to himself, even going as far as to decline any balls, visits, requests.
Every city has their own annual holiday, and considering how important they are, it's obvious that the leaders make an effort to turn up. But the Harvest festival is soon to begin and yet nothing has been heard from the castle in months, making citizens very worried for their King's health, the worry is widespread.

Those from out of town are encouraged to make an appearance as always, to come and join the festivities, despite the lack of the King's appearance. Although, more visitors may inspire the King to finally rally himself and show up to his city's annual event.

But for now, we move on to our heroes, though they may not know it yet.

Introductions: Noelda > Mercy > Veriah > Adrik

Though each person has a different story, they ended up in 'The Fig and Thistle' on that same night. This tavern is dimly lit, yet fairly busy, the evening young and the people scattered around trying to enjoy their free time. Some patrons are drinking alone at the bar, others gathered around the many tables within the tavern's walls, laughter and chatter fill the air. Now this seems like a cliché beginning to a story, but sometimes, things just genuinely start out this way. Heroes, what do you do?
