You can most certainly join
May I join?
Yep
Everyone can join
Okay. So when are we starting?
We can start now. I'll start.
Jaylen was walking along the beach, looking for seashells. Her foot hit something hard.
"Oww!" She exclaimed.
She bent down to examine what she had stepped on. It was a barnacle-encrusted locket.
(Can I join? My character's name is Daso. He's about 17, with dark skin and eyes, and cornrows. He's got a ready smile and loves to tease/flirt with anyone. He's arrogant but only to disguise his insecurities.)
Daso glanced up when he heard the noise. He noticed a pretty girl, first and foremost, and then realized that she'd hurt herself. "Hey, you okay?" he called out, hurrying over. She didn't answer. She was staring at something in the sand. "What's that?" he asked, taking a closer look.
"I'm not sure," Jaylen replied, picking it up.
"It looks like a locket."
She tried to open it, but it wouldn't budge.
"Maybe I should get the barnacles off first."
"Sure, whatever." Daso's attention snapped back to Jaylen's face. He grinned. "So, how's it goin'? And what's your name?"
(i'm going to bed i'll make my character in the morning)
"My name's Jaylen," She replied, not looking up from the locket in her hand
"What's yours?"
Daso tried to look dashing. The girl still wasn't paying attention. "It's Daso, but you can call me…anytime you like." He winked.
Jaylen looked up from the locket.
"Are you trying to hit on me?" She asked.
"Because it's not working."
Daso deflated, an overdramatic look of sadness on his face. "Awww. I was just shootin' my shot, Jay. Can I call you that?" He didn't give her a chance to reply. "Plus, it must be working, since you finally looked at me!"
Jaylen sighed and looked away. She thought about what she was going to do with the locket. It needed to be cleaned off. Then she could wear it on a chain. He interrupted her thoughts.
"Seriously, what's got you so interested in that piece of junk?" He peered at it harder, trying to discern her thoughts.
"It's not a piece of junk!" She exclaimed defensively.
"It's beautiful."
"Not as beautiful as me –err, you." Daso mentally face-palmed. Now she was going to think he was a huge jerk. He scrambled to salvage what was left of his dignity. "I mean, it's fine. But the –it's got barnacles. All over. It."
"Very observant of you," She replied.
"I'm going to get the barnacles off of it."
She looked at the locket again. How was she going to get the barnacles off?
Daso watched her think for a long moment. Finally, he remembered something. "I think you're supposed to use a…um…knife? Maybe? And then something scrubby."
She glanced at him in surprise. He actually said something useful!
"Thank you," Jaylen replied.
"I'll be sure to use a knife."
Daso grinned, his face dimpling. "My uncle –well, not really my uncle, my friend– taught me that. He lives around here."
