School Setting Plot Help

I'm making a story set in a school that needs to take the time of a year up, besides Clique drama, what are some classic high school story plots?

The reason I don't want a clique drama plot is because for a portion of the beginning months there is one already, but it gets resolved fairly quick, in like 3 months.

• Too much homework, not enough sleep
• Numerous attempts in joining a school sports team
• Drama club
• Wallflower?
• Neighbor is protagonist's mortal enemy

If the character is interested in music they could be practicing for a big performance to try and make first chair or something. Maybe something happens in the family like a divorce or death and its making the character feel like their world is falling apart and so it takes a really long time for them to fix them-self.

Too embarrassed and scared to admit to (parents, friends, etc) that they are failing class x. Needs to get secret tutoring from their crush OR someone they hate for something in return.

Bullying and/or getting into fights; resulting discipline

Preparing for the school dance, study groups cramming for finals, That One Disastrous Pep Rally That Nobody Is Allowed To Talk About (TM)

*failing class
*bullies i guess
*mean teachers
*friends abandon them
*gets blamed for something and get in trouble
*have ALL the same classes with someone(or a group of) people they don't like/no classes with friends
