It was getting closer to late afternoon now, and the sun was beginning to get low in the sky. Nyx glanced out the windows. "D'you think they'll be back soon?"

Beckett fished around in his pocket for the cash, only to come up empty handed.
That fucking psychotic, double-crossing bastard, he thought bitterly. He turned to the doctor.
"D'you know someone named Vozrael?" Beckett asked, and the doctor nodded. "Good. Put this on his tab."
Beckett smiled, and waved Peppermint and Ivchenko forward.
"What now? Do we head back to his house and do whatever inane bullshit he wants?" Beckett asked. "Or do we do something fun without being bogged down by some phony wannabe magician?"
"More free time, then." Nyx had yet to decide whether that was a good thing or a bad thing.
Nyx's stomach growled loudly, and she set off for the kitchen. "I think I'll grab something to eat, if you don't mind. Or are you going to cook dinner again?"

He looked at his watch. It was 6:00 pm. A top hat materialized onto his head.
"Imma make dinner! I'm also hungry."
Nyx let out a five-note giggle at the sight of the top hat, then quickly stifled it. She was about to ask him what he was going to make, but upon deciding that opening her mouth would only let more giggles loose, she grinned and made for the living room, where she curled back up under a blanket.

"Good." Nyx tossed off her blanket and got up off the couch, walking into the kitchen and brushing past Vozreal, opening the freezer. "I'm in charge of dessert, then. And it's ice cream."
