Cassiopeia sighed as she put the last of her belongings into the train. Her father was standing beside her, smiling at her. When Cassiopeia came home for the holidays, her guardians were eager to know what had happened at Hogwarts so far. When she told them she had been sorted into Gryffindor, there was a silence that filled the cottage. A silence that filled her with dread. Are they mad that I hadn't been sorted into Slytherin? I know I am. She had thought. She waited for the worse but was shocked when her father laughed.
"Told you she was going to be in Gryffindor. Hand over the five galleons, mum." Her father had said with a smug smirk. With a scowl, Alexandra took out five galleons and passed them over to her son. She turned to look at her granddaughter and embraced her. "You could've at least lied. Then I wouldn't have to deal with your father being insufferable for the rest of the year and the summer," She had whispered into her ear. That only made Cassiopeia laugh.
Cass looked up at her father and smiled back. She hugged her father and was practically still clinging onto him when he broke the hug a couple of seconds later. The man chuckled, his black eyes twinkling, as he looked down at his beloved daughter. After a goodbye, a threat, and another hug, Cassiopeia finally entered the train. As she walked down the compartments, she realized that the upper part of the train was full, while the middle part was semi-full. If she wanted peace and quiet, she would have to go to the end. And so, that was what she did.
She did notice that there were a few other people at the end of the train. Though she knew it wouldn't be like the front and the middle, where people would just barge in, and sit down with you, and giving you no time to protest against it. She had the misfortune to go through that experience in her first year. She smiled to herself as she picked an open compartment and sat near the window. She took out a black bag she had with her and pulled out a book. Minutes later, her full attention was on the book in her hands.
With a family full of Pureblood Slytherins, Colton's family had been plenty pleased with the house he'd been sorted into. He didn't mind much either way; honestly, he was glad to be going to Hogwarts at all, but he did like to have the approval from his family. However, he absolutely hated having Kieran hovering around him constantly in the dorm. He did everything in his power to avoid his brother.
On the train, he was grumbling to himself as his brother scolded him, and he seemed very annoyed. "Christ, Kieran! Just leave me be! I'm not a little first year anymore!" He snapped at him, trying to push his brother away to no avail. Kieran was much bigger and stronger than him, after all. Of course he was. "I don't need you hovering over me all the time. Bugger off before I hex you or something." Kieran scoffed a bit. "Sure, Colt. I'd love to see you try. They haven't taught you any hexes yet." Colton groaned and picked up the pace. "Just go away! I don't wanna talk to you!" He managed to get into a compartment and locked himself inside, separated from Kieran. "Go hang out with your stuffy Prefect buddies!"
He sighed softly in relief when he was finally alone, flopping down on the seat. He didn't even really care that other people would have heard his yelling. Citrine hissed softly to him and he turned his attention to her, subtly striking up a conversation to keep himself occupied without drawing attention to himself.
"So many half-bloods, it's disgusting." Nate's father used his wand to push aside a pair of blonde kids, chittering about the newest broom that came out. He muttered to his wife about the lack of pure bloods at the station while Nate sighed. They reached the end of the station and Nate dropped off his luggage, keeping a small knapsack with him. The bag had a few necessities, some things for Echo and a few books for him. He slung the bag on his shoulder and picked up Echo. Nathan walked to the first gate and stopped, looking at his parents with a tired gaze. "Stand straight Nathaniel, you are our son." His mother's said from beside him.
Nathan rolled his eyes at his full name but did as she asked. The quicker they were satisfied, the faster they would let him leave. "I do hope your spending your time wisely child, I would hate to see what the outcome will be for a failed child of the Graye family." Nathan stiffened and looked away from his family to the others boarding the train. Many of the children and families there were laughing, the occasional tears being shed at the mother's expense. "Well, the train may be about to leave. Continue doing… whatever it is you Hufflepuffs do." His father patted his shoulder with a firm hand and started moving across the platform again, not bothering to stay long enough to say goodbye. His mother sniffed and brushed his hair with her fingers. "Do keep your appearance in check? Be sure to write, your father will fly to the school if he doesn't hear from you in more than a month." She curtly nodded at him and followed his father down the platform.
Nathan grumbled and fluffed his hair again, letting it go back to being messy. Most of the train compartments had been filled already, ruing Nate's chances of finding an empty one for himself. He sighed deeply and walked down the aisle, keeping Echo pressed against his body or she would run off. While most of the compartments at the back weren't filled completely, only one of them was to his liking. There was just one issue, someone was already sitting there, immersed in a book.
Clearing his throat and running a hand through his hair nervously, Nathan knocked on the window of the compartment twice and opened the door, leaning against the frame. "My apologies, I know an immersive reader when I see one, but the other compartments are full and this is the only one with less than 4 people." He said, rubbing Echo's back. "Do you mind if I join you?"

On September 1st, 1975, Jada had just finished saying goodbye to her parents and brother and had boarded the Hogwarts Express. Her mother cried, her father hugged a lot, and her brother just wished her luck in 4th year Transfiguration. Apparently, it was absolute hell and Jada was already no good at Transfiguration. After she said her goodbyes, Jada and her two cats boarded the train.
Jada had just sat down in her small little room, sitting next to her best friend, Regulus Black, and across from another good friend of theirs, Barty Crouch Jr., and her sleeping cats next to him. It had always been the three of them since first year. An inseparable trio.
Regulus almost immediately got to work on a letter to someone. There was no name in the header but Jada could still hear his voice, clear as day: "Andy, I know you told me to look out for Sirius, but that might be difficult…"
Jada decided not to listen anymore and opened a book. The Picture of Dorian Gray, an old favorite.

Cassiopeia looked up from her book and looked at the boy at the entrance. She pushed some of her red hair behind her ear and frowned slightly. She had hoped that nobody would have entered the compartment, which really was a lot to ask. She snorted to herself and put her book down. You're stupid to think that you'd be left alone. Though at least he asked if it would be alright for him to join me..and it would be rude to decline and make him awkwardly find another one. Well, it wouldn't hurt to let him in, as long as he doesn't bother me too much.
After a bit of thinking, Cassiopeia shrugged. "It's fine with me, I guess." She eyed Echo, which somehow immediately made her think of Midnight. Echo didn't even look anything similar to her owl, yet here she was feeling emotional once again. And she hated it. She had accidentally injured Midnight during the summer and while Midnight had forgiven her quite quickly, Cassiopeia had been terrified of what she'd done.
She sighed as she picked up her book, and tried to get herself back into where she had left off, but she quickly realized that wouldn't be the case. She closed the book, but not before putting a small green bookmarker, and put it to her side. As she looked out the window, she wondered if she would be able to finally spot the place her cottage was located in. However how slim her chances were of actually locating it, she liked to give her mind something to do while she was stressed.
"Colt, just let me in. Don't make this difficult." Kieran sighed softly, pinching the bridge of his nose. "No! Go away! I don't want you here!" Colton yelled back, not minding his volume. Kieran pulled out his wand and easily unlocked the door, making Colton yell at him more and try and hit him away. Kieran pinned Colt to the seat, shushing him, but Colt only yelled louder. Maybe someone will even get this idiot to get out. "LET GO OF ME!" Colt struggled against Kieran's hold, but his brother was stronger than him, and he just covered Colt's mouth with one hand. "Colt, stop screaming! I swear to god… mother and father told me to keep an eye on you." Colton shook his head, still struggling and glaring up at Kieran. Citrine hissed at Kieran, rearing up to bite him.
(Have you guys ever seen or held that one weird tube toy that never stopped moving? This thing? Colton reminds me of that for some reason 😂😂)
"Thanks. I hope you don't mind cats, Echo is curious and will probably come to you. If she likes you, she'll lay on your lap and hiss if you try to get up." Nathan gave a half-hearted smile then sat on the seat opposite to Cassiopeia, by the window. He tossed his bag near his feet and took out a book. He would never admit to his parents, but muggles fascinated him. He had bought an old book of muggle stories, fairytales they called them. He had just finished a story about a girl who had left her shoe behind for a muggle royal to find. It was fascinating to see how they viewed the magical creatures that were unseen to them.
At the moment he was on a story titled Red Riding Hood. It was short but he was very invested in the story.

"Not at all. They're charming things, cats. I've always wanted a cat, but alas, I've been…er…forbidden to own one." Cassiopeia responded without looking away from the window. She put her finger on the glass and moved it along the window as the train moved along. The compartment was quiet and peaceful, and it almost made her feel like she was at home. All that was missing was the danger that came along with the glen.
And then, she heard shouting. Very loud shouting. She winced as she tried her best to block it out, but failed. It came to her that the only way to stop this racket was to ask nicely if whoever was shouting could be quiet. She sighed as she stood up, and left the compartment. She followed the voice to a seemingly empty compartment. Except that there were two boys in a snake inside. She didn't care what was happening inside and her only wish was to get one of the boys to shut up. She opened the door very loudly, and dramatically.
"What the bloody hell do you think you're doing?" She asked as she watched the boy with the snake carefully. Though she was wary of the snake, she was interested as to why a snake was on board the train. As far as she could recall, snakes weren't allowed as pets. She looked at the older boy and frowned. "And why does it look like your about to kidnap this kid?"
Colton tried to yell a response, but his words were muffled and indistinguishable from his mouth being covered. "My apologies for my little brother." Kieran replied, struggling to keep a grip on Colton, who was writhing like a dying animal. He managed to bite Kieran's hand, which made his brother recoil and glare at him. "Kieran, you idiot! I can't breathe!" He yelled, rubbing at his face a bit with an indignant huff. Citrine hissed at Kieran and retreated into the collar of Colton's shirt. Kieran rolled his eyes and crossed his arms. "You could too breathe. You're just being overdramatic." "I'm not being overdramatic! Just go away! I'm not a little kid; I don't need you hovering over me all the time."
Nathan closed his book and followed Cassiopeia to the compartment to yell at the noise being made. He saw a few others peeking out of their cabins to see what was going on. Not one to bask in attention, Nathan turned his glare to the other students. "What the bloody hell are you look at?" He snapped. Most of the younger one ran back into their cabins and closed the door while many of the older ones stayed in the hallway. "Move or I will move you." He said in response to the stubborn ones.

Cassiopeia glanced from Colton to Kieran. It was obvious that Colton was annoyed by his brother. And who wouldn’t? After all, despite being children, they all needed their own personal space. “I do suggest you take your brother’s….ah…suggestion seriously. As much as it might be your job to…take care of him, watching over him in a train, where nothing could ever happen to the students of Hogwarts, is pointless.” She paused, and a small smirk formed. “He is obviously annoyed at you, and your presence isn’t helping. So, Mr. Lamb, as much as it pains me to separate you from your brother, I’m saddened to say, that I do believe it’s for the best if you leave your brother alone.”
The tone of Cassiopeia’s voice made it clear it wasn’t a suggestion. It was an order. There was also a small hint of mirth in her voice, but it was gone as soon as it arrived. As she looked behind her, she saw Nathan, and a few older years standing near the entrance. She looked at the older years and gave them a nasty smile. “I suggest you leave, before I decide to hex you, or worse, turn you into a teapot. Can’t have broken teapots when we arrive at Hogwarts, can we?”
Nathan was pleasantly surprised at the change in the girl's demeanour. She seemed like a nice person, reading her book in the compartment, but now she looked as though she could break all the bones in you body while listing them. The last of the students saw two threatening figures glaring at them and they meekly went back into their compartments. While he did nothing to help the boy from his brother, he did watch to make sure nothing bad would happen next. He didn't want another person to be hurt by their sibling.

Jada had finally looked up from her book to watch the events happening outside of her cart. Their voices were so loud, and their thoughts even louder. If she didn't end it quickly, Jada would be stuck with a hell of a headache for the rest of the day. She stood, neatly folding her book up and placing it in her seat.
"Jade-" Reg's voice sounded like a warning. "Don't get involved-"
But the witch was already out of the compartment. "If you don't mind," Jada hissed, narrowing her hazel eyes. "Some of us are trying to enjoy a peaceful ride to Hogwarts."
Kieran scoffed a bit as he looked around at the other students. Apparently no one was on his side even though he firmly believed himself to be in the right. Sure, he could take them on, but he didn't need to be fighting on the train, especially considering he was a prefect. "Please just go away…" Colton said weakly, meeker and quieter than before. He felt almost defeated despite the help he was getting. He honestly didn't expect Kieran to listen to them.
Kieran looked back at his brother and sighed, noticing tears forming in Colton's eyes. "Fine. I will take my leave. Don't do anything stupid." And with that, he left, leaving Colton to draw in a shuddering sigh of relief. He rubbed at his arms, wincing a bit when he touched a couple of forming bruises. "S-Sorry for being a disturbance…" He stammered nervously towards the students who had gathered. His demeanor completely changed now that his brother wasn't around to watch. He wasn't fighting; he had no reason to.
Celeste sat in her usual compartment, her pastel rainbow backpack slung into the seat next to her. She had her sketchpad out and was drawing quietly, rubbing the paper with her finger in order to shade the space underneath the neck of the person she drew, she wiped her nose, leaving a light gray mark on the tip of it, and blinked, holding the sketchpad out as far as her arms would let her, to observe the finished product, she lifted it back into her backpack. She then took out a bag of clay, consisting of black, orange, and white and started sculpting the clay, to form a monarch butterfly, the size of her hand.
language
(I just love how Celeste is just sculpting clay and drawing, while everyone else is literally involved in drama)
Cassiopeia huffed as she watched Kieran walk away. She didn't realize the commotion they were causing until Jada came out of her compartment. She turned around and smiled. "Sorry, we were just helping out the kid here," Cass said, not sounding sorry at all. She was actually quite amused at how Jada tried to shut them up. She proceeded to turn back to Colton, who was now looking at everyone nervously. There was just something about him that made Cass feel a strong urge to protect him. "You weren't much of a disturbance, unlike your brother over there. I don't think he'll be bothering you on the train anymore. He's most likely afraid to start a fight on the train."
Celeste finished the hand sized clay, Monarch butterfly, and started sculpting a couple multi colored small mushrooms, using her red, green, blue and yellow clay. She fumbled with her hands, using the sleeve of her sweater to wipe her forehead, and continued making the mushrooms, and humming softly to herself.
Colton nodded a bit, still seeming a bit uneasy. "R-Right… uh…" He cleared his throat awkwardly and looked away, wincing a bit. "I probably seem like a jerk being so… you know, with him. B-But he's kind of a jerk, and he doesn't really care, he just wants mother and father to be pleased with him. I just… don't want him around." He sighed, fidgeting with his hands as Citrine coiled loosely around his neck. "S-Sorry, you… uh… you probably don't care about my personal problems…"
