Brainstorming+writing practice: Let's make a novel!

I’m liking this so far

Well, depending on the witches magic type, how long they can use their magic, how powerful their magic is, etc. there are wisps that appear and help their witches with things.

But the thing is, they don't really have a type. They can specialize of course, but they were born with no powers, and therefore no type.
Would we have them specialize on an element/practice in that case?

Yeah, sorry, I was thinking they were born with different types of magic or they exceeded in different types.

Wasn't the thing that they practiced witchcraft as a way to be magical?
Maybe they have something in the blood that helps but IDK.

Hey, what are we doing exactly, like, are we making more/ new characters, geography, developing the characters, that kind of stuff =P

Right now we are nailing down the magic system it seems.
After that we could do some geography and work on the enviroment.

As I said, working on geography is good. And yeah the siblings are from the northen region, so that makes a southern region too.

Mhm… Maybe we have the land sorted into different elements?
The northern could be water and ice, southern could be fire, western could be earth, eastern could be wind, and we could have a center land for all around magic!

What if we do it so that southern is a desert and further out it's a volcano wasteland (with lava rivers with magmaids?)
Having charcters travel through a desert n limited rescources is really good to establish them all and their relationships.

Also, I modeled the southern region off of Egypt a bit.

Yeah Egypt seems like a good comparison.
My point is that western would be way more populated and absolutely sprouting with people since there's so much fruit and water, and the climate is easier to adjust to.

Yeah the Witch trio are travellers, I don't know exactly why yet besides the fact that they're trying to normalize witchcraft and not be discriminated against by "natural-born" magic users.
The Witches Association, on the other hand, I have no idea. It would seem that they should be stationary, but what if they were to be driven out and scattered by a nearby, hateful civilization?
