I'm going to slowly back out of this chat because…. there is no controversial topic being discussed and things not being debated so….

@The-N-U-T-Cracker

I can find some stuff to start debates, give me a moment

I think we got off track bc of the soapdick lmao
I was going to put more topics in here but I'm way too tired right now lmao

@The-N-U-T-Cracker

Alright, I googled some stuff and while I have no idea what some of these things are, I'll list them anyway

Death penalty
Plastic surgery
Abortion (I know a few things about this)
Climate change
Animal rights (I know a few things about this too)
Gun control (I've seen some details about this but not enough to know how to debate it)
School uniforms
Trump (already mentioned, I'm just bringing it back because I know absolutely nothing about him)
Immigration
Religious rights
The US military

…There are some topic ideas for you, go crazy.

Let's do guns. What side are you peeps on?

Get rid of them. They cause more problems than fix them.

@The-N-U-T-Cracker

I think guns should be legal.

@actual-fandom-trash

Maybe not get rid, but make it way harder for anyone to get them. But I agree that they cause more problems than fixing them

@The-N-U-T-Cracker

I read about this the other day and actually, they don't cause more problems than they fix, millions upon millions of crimes every year are stopped with guns, I'll find the source in a moment

sure, but guns also take innocent children's lives in school shootings and mass shootings all of the time. I don't want to have to live in a country where my school has to participate in an active shooter drill twice a year. I don't want to have to automatically search for emergency exits every time I enter a building or a place I've never been before because I'm terrified that something dangerous might happen. I don't want to feel the need to come up with an escape plan at my school because I'm terrified that a student might get their hands on a gun and bring it to school.
Of course, I believe in an American's right to own a gun because of the constitution, but I also believe this needs to have very strict limitations due to how advanced guns have become.

Guns should be legal but with strict regulation. Japan actually has a really impressive stance on gun control that I think the US should consider copying.

^^^^^^

Not to mention my school has recently suffered under a shooter threat. We live in a community where kids actually have the firepower to do it, since we live in a more rural area. Which made me have to think what I would do if something like this happened. I was told by my own father to just get out. Push people in front of me if I were in the risk of getting shot. Has that ever happened to you?

Now of course, it is in the Constitution, but like Jensen said, we need more regulations. A lot more. It has grown exceptionally from when they first wrote the Constitution.

Same here. This kid actually got expelled and almost went to jail bc of a joking shooter threat, but we all took it seriously because she had access to guns (everybody does around here because we also live in a very rural area). In our school, the shooter drill was thankfully changed, so for our drill we're supposed to listen to an announcement that tells us where the shooter is, where they're going, and what they look like, then we quickly choose the safest exit and run (or hide if the shooter is too close)

But a gun didn't walk into anyone's school and shoot people. A person did. A sick minded person. Guns are not the issue. Regulating the people and the way they obtain/ keep them is the issue.

I agree

I know that it may be scary but it is good that schools are doing these kind of drills. I'd rather people be prepared for the worst then not have any preparation at all and suffer as many have done.
No one blames an earthquake for killing people and yet we still do the drills. Same with fire. Flash floods. Tornado. Bombs.

book

Thank you Eris. Guns do not kill. People do.

Precisely.

I agree there, it’s not the gun’s fault. When my little sister got angry and stabbed my arm with a pencil, was it her fault or the pencil’s?

@SaltyLasagna

I didn't see anybody claiming that gun violence is the fault of the guns though

It's terrifying, but we wouldn't have to worry so much if there was stricter gun control

book

What are the rates of attacks without guns in Japan?
And what do you think Eris, about the, "If we have guns we don't need to worry because we can defend ourselves" argument.

I think guns should be aloud. But no one can control people.

book

What do you mean?

@SaltyLasagna

I think guns should be aloud. But no one can control people.

Why do you think guns should be allowed?

Why do you think guns should be allowed?

One, we cn use them to defend ourselves. Two, I enjoy shooting(that's just me, it clears my mind.), Three, I used to live next to a house known for someone being murdered in it, if someone I trust has a gun, I will feel safe.

book

Ah.

@The-N-U-T-Cracker

I've fired a gun before… It was for an AHG assignment, but still.

book

Just for fun for me. But I have no experience.

What if a gun falls into the hands of somebody you don't trust? Guns can be used to attack and defend
