Even my mom doesn’t do that kind of stuff?! Sure she treats me like I’m a kid in the sense that I’m not capable of making good judgement (which is totally wrong because I’ve proven time and time again to be responsible and thoughtful). But dealing out punishment to another adult? Ugh. That’s messed up.

Yeah that's exactly my situation. She said that in order to get all my things back I need to do the washing up every day without needing to be asked to do it. So.. college, wash up, accountancy, work. That is my life for the next few months

Ehhh, I don't necessarily agree with that, as punishment is really supposed to prevent a behavior from happening again. If you haven't learned better by the time you're an adult, what the heck is the point of taking technology away or otherwise punishing them? By then you should have clearly established boundaries between you and your parents.
But maybe that's just my situation. I haven't been grounded since I was in middle school, I don't think. I never did much to warrant it, though. I've always been a pretty calm and quiet individual and tried to avoid any negative attention from anyone at all costs.
