"Just that, ego." he said flatly, relaxing a little, "I ave your word you're not gonna backstab me, or ditch me later?"
Another random quest, (GAY) (O/O) CLOSED
"Of course." Oci paused and tapped his chin with one finger. "It would probably help if you can see my face, wouldn't it?" He reached up and pulled the hood off his head. His face was pale in the moonlight, sprinkled with freckles and framed with curly blonde hair. All in all, he looked cute and sweet and very innocent. But the hard look in his dark purple eyes told a different story.
Marco hummed softly, relaxing a little at that, letting his own hood fall back, revealing his own sharp features, and dark blue eyes. "Alright.." he said softly, his hair falling into his eyes a little bit.
"Very good." Oci smiled softly. "Now, new partner, we should probably get of here before they notice we took something."
Marco nodded, "Probably.." he said softly, "I can get out the window, but what about you?"
"Ah! I have a window, as well." Oci glanced around, finally finding the window with his rope. "Over there." He started running towards it, still staying in the shadows. "Wanna come?"
Marco hummed, "Alright… simply for the sake of not losing you, and the scroll.." he said softly, waiting for him to go first.
"Of course." Oci said, his voice sad. "I get it." He arrived at the rope and tucked the scroll into his pocket. After a few seconds of thinking, he grabbed the rope and started climbing. When he reached the window, Oci turned around and sat on the windowsill. "Come on!"
Marco nodded, shifting into a raven and flying up after him, landing on the windowsill beside him and shifting back, balancing easily on his toes. "Where to?" he asked.
"Down the roof." Oci said, grabbing the rope and quickly coiling it. "I'm guessing you'll want to stay with me so I don't run off with the scroll, so we'll go to one of my… apartments." He untied the end of the rope and started picking his way down the roof.
Marco hummed, "Exactly." he said softly, That and I'm not going to argue with real shelter, he thought, shifting into a cat and moving after him.
Oci got to the edge of the roof and threw the coil of rope to the ground below. He inspected the ground below– which was about a story away– then leaped towards a wide ledge near to the roof. He jumped from surface to surface, finally landing on the ground next to the rope.
Marco simply shifted again, spiralling down to the other's side, landing lightly on the ground as he shifted back, making sure his hood was up again.
Oci picked up the rope and threw it into a nearby waste bin, then pulled off the cloak and tossed it in there as well. He pulled a matchbook from his pocket and set both of them on fire. Oci tucked the matches back into the pocket of his long, cream-colored coat and turned to the shifter. "Stay close and don't look scared."
Marco nodded, "Who said I was scared?" he asked, watching him warily. His stance held wariness, but not fear, his eyes lit by the flames in the garbage can.
(Sorry, needed a brief break from screens)
"I didn't. Just don't start." Oci smiled sharply at him and started down the alleyway. When he reached the main road, he turned right. There were only a few people on the streets, most of them quite scary-looking. But when they saw Oci, they turned away, trying not to attract his attention.
(It's, fine, I completely understand!)
Marco followed behind him, his nerves up, and his alertness spiking when he saw the fear on the other's face; though his outward demeanor stayed calm as he followed behind him.
(Thanks mate, though if I ever vanish for more than a day without notice, then bump this, (I have lost threads before))
Oci walked briskly for a few more blocks, finally stopping at a brick two-story building. He glanced down the street before grabbing a set of keys from his pocket and unlocking the door. "After you," Oci said, pushing open the door.
(Okay. Will do. :)
Marco followed him easily, matching the other's stride as they moved a few more blocks. When he other opened the door, he sighed, then stepped inside warily, his eyes trained on the other.
Oci stepped inside and locked the door– multiple times, actually– then started up the narrow stairs. "This way," He called over his shoulder. "You know, it occurred to me on our walk here that I don't know your name. I'm Oci, but you might've known that already."
Marco hummed following him silently, not bothering to give a name, or even respond except for a nod. He didn't need the other knowing his name. It was a grim, and dirty job that had to be done, and this Oci, he was just a partner. Nothing more, even if he was kinda good looking.
"Oh, come now." Oci stopped and spun around, blocking the rest of the stairs. "I can't just keep calling you 'the shifter', can I? Just give me a name, even if it isn't your real one."
Marco kept his features even, "Marco.." he said finally, knowing it was common enough not to lead anywhere.
"Mmm, thank you, Marco." Oci turned and bounded up the last few steps. "So, what do you think of reading the scroll right now? Or would you rather wait until morning?" He asked, striding down a cramped hallway that led into a small living room area.
Marco huffed a little, following him up the stairs and down the hall. "I have zero objections." he said softly, shifting into a cat and scoping out the room before reappearing on the couch, crosslegged.
"Good." Oci sat down next to Marco and pulled the scroll from his pocket. "Let's see where we can find this Alcari Staff." He opened the scroll, holding it so Marco could also see. "Um. That's not going to be fun." Oci looked over at him. "It's in the Everlasting Woods."
Marco growled and cursed softly, leaning forward to get a better look. "It's also guarded by a creature of some sort…." he said softly, glaring at it.
