"who is your client?" Cole asked slowly as he got off of the counter.

Chiara shrugged elegantly, leaning back against the counter. “Dunno. The letter and file were anonymous and untraceable. No fingerprints on it or anything, or just appeared on my doorstep last week.”

Cole sighed "well did it have a signature of any kind even a symbol?"
“Nope. Just the file and a typed note explaining that I had to kill you or else, etcetera.”

"fun. I am surprised they still want me dead." Cole said quietly. "By the way did you know you have been followed all week."
“By you? Or someone else? I know that someone messed up my apartment, and there’s been chaos everywhere I go, so I imagine I am being followed.”

"not by me but by the person that is going to kill you as soon as you kill me."
“If I don’t kill you,” she corrected him, “Not after I kill you. And yes, it’s easy to imagine that my ransacked apartment this morning was meant to be perceived as either a threat or a prompt to hurry up and kill you.”

"Maybe." he walked over to the table and started cleaning up the knives. "I'll may allow you to kill me, only if you stay out of the way for 48 hours."
Chiara was incredulous. “Wait— you’re agreeing?”

"Yeah, I'll allow you to kill me. But only if you leave me alone for 48 hours." He said sighing "Also you have to take my cat after you kill me." His voice was serious when he said this.
A flicker of confusion danced over her face, but she nodded. “Do you want to die?”

"Sometimes, every once in a while. but I feel that you don't care if i do or don't want to die." He replied. "It's the job you got to kill who you were sent to kill."
Once again, Chiara shrugged indifferently. “You’re not wrong. I’ll admit I was surprised.. fine, it’s a deal. I stay out of the way for the next two days, tag along to this rich guy’s house, steal some valuables, then kill you. Thanks.”

"your welcome." He said slightly smiling. " I have a question… Have you ever been commanded to kill someone, but rather die then kill them. but death threats of others force you to kill them?" He asked quietly.
Chiara shook her head. "I've never actually… talked to any of my targets, so I've never really cared. Just a quick, clean shot and I'm out. How about you?"

"My girlfriend. I had to kill her. A client made me. But it is all fine now, it was 3 years ago so it is in the past I guess." He replied to her.
Chiara stilled for a moment, unsure how to respond to such a personal piece of information. "I'm sorry," she said finally.

"it's fine. It was 3 years ago. she probably was going to break up with me soon anyway, we were together for awhile." He smiled slightly. "I have to grab some weapons." He left the room and went to his bedroom and grabbed weapons.
Chiara stayed in place, letting her eyes fall shut as she tried to gather her thoughts. This is such a bad idea..

Cole walked back in the room holding a duffle bag. Slowly he walked up behind her and tapped on her shoulder, "Alright are you ready to go?" he asked her
“I just need more ammo.” Chiara got up, wincing slightly at the pain in her arm.

He nodded then tossed a box of ammo at her.
Chiara quickly loaded her gun, pocketing the extra ammo. "Let's go."

He nodded then looked at her. "Wait here." He dropped his bag and ran out of the apartment and upstairs to another apartment. He knocked on the door and a guy answered. They talked for a minute then he was handed car keys. After that he ran back to the apartment. "Ok we are good."
Chiara furrowed her brow. "What was that about?"

"we needed a car." He said then picked up his bag.
Chiara followed him out. "So you just borrowed one?"

"Kind of. The guy owed me so I am using his car." Cole said as they walked downstairs and to the parking garage.
Chiara decided not to ask any more questions. She climbed into the passenger seat, inhaling deeply to prepare herself.
