"I won't be a problem for you anymore. Kate won't be either. I've already seen your face and I recognize you.", he growled.

"Are you supposing that you could describe me to the authorities?" he asked, arching an eyebrow.
"And what are you going to do about it?"
He smirked. "You have no power. What are you trying to offer me?" He glanced at one of the men holding onto Kate and tilted his head. The man pulled out a gun and pressed the barrel against Kate's temple. She showed no response. "It would be a pity though… she was our best experiment so far."
"You wouldn't kill her." He sounded confident, but it was really just a hope that he was holding on to.
"Wouldn't I?" he challenged. "It really would be a shame if she just… disappeared."
"Who are you going to… experiment on then?"
"We have other options," was his simple reply. The man with the gun pressed it harder against Kate's temple.
"I'm not afraid to kill.", August said. It shouldn't have come as a surprise to himself when he said that.
"Neither am I," he countered smoothly. The smirk on his face complimented the remark.
He threw the man holding him to the wall off and started running towards Kate. Either he saves Kate or he gets killed. Not a bad deal.
The man smirked. "You stop there or your girlfriend dies," he stated.
He stopped and dialed 9-1-1 behind his back.
He grinned. "That's what I thought. As I said, Mr. Ren. I am not afraid to kill her."
"Don't call me that." He glared at the man. It was sickeningly formal to call him by his last name.
"Is there a problem with that name?" he asked, smirking. Behind his back, he signaled the man holding Kate.
He pulled out the phone in a rush and yelled into it, "There's a guy with a gun at Still Water Apartments! Come quick!"
He laughed. "You think the police can stop us?"
"No, but they can get you out of here."
"With that, you are right. Good luck," he remarked with a smile. One of the men threw a smoke bomb and all of them vanished, leaving Kate and August alone.
He ran up to Kate and hugged her. "Don't do that again. If they take you, they take me."
Kate stiffened and tensed.
He noticed her stiffen but he didn't point that out. "Are you okay? Did they hurt you?"
In her mind, she was screaming. She wanted to tell him that she was there, and that everything would be alright. But instead, her lips shakily whispered, "I don't know you." She could feel her heart breaking.
Sirens wailed outside. He was going to catch them or have them catch him. "Goodbye.", he told her with a sad smile as he ran.
Kate's empty eyes watched him go.
As soon as he broke into the light of the outdoors he felt like he was being watched. Police cars were parked outside. I don't care anymore.
A woman with black hair approached him. "Who are you?"
"That's what I've been asking myself.", he said in all seriousness.
"Well, we'll start off simple then. What's your name?" she asked, clicking her pen.
