The woman arched her eyebrows and pulled out her badge so she could show him.

"August Ren.", he echoed. I'm wasting time!

"Jess Johnson," she said smoothly. "August Ren… were you the one that called?"

"Yes." He stared at her blankly.

"You said that there was someone with a gun?" she inquired, looking around.

"The sirens scared them off."

"Can you describe them?" she asked, preparing to write.

"Um, brown hair and eyes. Start of a beard. Light tan skin?", August listed. "The same guy who brainwashed my girlfriend!"

She wrote everything he said down quickly. "Alright, we'll look for him. Anything else you can tell us?"

"He seemed… professional almost.", he added.

"Got it," she murmured, jotting it down.

"Anything else?", he asked not unkindly.

"Is your girlfriend here?" the woman asked.

"More or less… she doesn't remember me anymore. She's in the building." He shuffled his feet and looked down.

She looked confused. "What do you mean, she doesn't remember you?"

"That same thing that happened last time if you cared to look at!", he spat. Do these bastards really not know?

Her eyes widened. "This is my first assignment."

He was silenced. "…Good luck.", he finally said in all sincerity.

"Uh, thanks…" she said, her composure slightly fractured. "What happened last time?"
