"And… If I find them?", he asked.
Brainwashed (O/O) Closed
She paused thoughtfully. "Fight them if they start anything and try to alert me however you can."
"Okay." It seemed strange that she trusted him enough to fight them, but he took it lightly. He slowly made his way towards the gates.
Jess went the other way, slowly pulling her gun out of the holster as she moved.
They have weapons. I don't., he thought grumpily. He could do some damage anyway at least, he knew.
Jess moved around a little bit, not really seeing anything.
August though he heard something. Maybe it was some anxiety. Yeah, maybe…
Jess's eyes surveyed the area. Again, nothing…
It was completely silent. Until some garbage fell over. He jumped and adrenaline coursed through his veins.
Jess whipped around at the sound. "August?"
He remained silent. Hopefully he wasn't the one who made the garbage fell. It was a perfect way to give out his location.
Jess stiffened when she didn't get a response. Maybe they'd taken him. She paced quickly over to the direction he'd went in.
His mind must be playing tricks on him, but it sounded as though he heard footsteps coming towards him. He got into a fighting stance.
Jess looked around, her hand prepared to draw her gun. "August?" she hissed.
It sounded like Jess. "Yes?", he whispered quietly.
She continued until she could see him. "Did you knock over a garbage can?" she asked, looking around.
"I don't know if it was me or…", he stopped mid-sentence.
Jess's eyes darted around. "You didn't see anyone did you?"
"No.", he whispered. Then the ground began to sink beneath his feet and he cried out and ran. A there was a gaping hole in the ground. He stood over it in shock.
Jess's eyes widened. "Oh my God…"
"Is… it theirs." Theirs. Who took her. She could be down there.
"Could be," she murmured. "Got any change on you?"
"Uh, yeah. Why?", he asked. That tunnel had obviously been there for a while.
Jess arched her eyebrows and looked down. She wanted to see how deep it was, or if there even was a bottom.
August got out his phone and turned on the flashlight on it. The tunnel looked creepy with the light shown on it. Yes, there was a bottom.
Jess shivered. "They couldn't be down there could they?" She didn't want them to be, but, of course, they probably were.
"I don't know. Do you think it's safe to go down there?" Spiderwebs hung from the walls of the tunnel. It didn't look like somewhere he wanted to go, but if it led him to Kate he'd do it.
"Doesn't look like it, but that means that your girlfriend is probably down there," she sighed.
"I'm going down there.", he said without hesitation, but his voice trembled a bit.
"I knew you would want to, but we can't. Not yet," Jess said, looking up at him.
