"Mm…" Nathaniel huddled a bit closer to Lloyd and sighed shakily. His crumpled wings were hanging off the edge of the bed.

Anton's eyes flashed to his wings, his lip curling a little.
Nathaniel yawned, stretching out his wings a bit when he did so. They were clearly crushed and crippled, and they still hurt him sometimes, but he couldn't exactly just get them amputated.
Anton frowned a little bit. "What happened to your wings, anyhow?"
Nathaniel winced and hesitated a couple seconds. "U-Um… I got shot down from the air when I was seven… I was really high up and I landed on my back…"
"Hm. Well then." he replied, shaking his head a little bit.
"W-What?" Nathaniel looked up at Anton, confused.
"Guess that explains why you're never going to be king."
Nathaniel froze, unsure how to respond. "What's that supposed to mean?"
"Well, you can't have a cripple as king, right?" he replied, arching an eyebrow. "Just like a half-breed can't have a governmental or higher-paid job."
Nathaniel flushed a bit, clearly taken aback. "I-I… um…"
He shook his head a little, looking around the room.
"I could be king if I wanted to! I… I'm perfectly capable! I still know how to fight, just… on the ground."
He raised his eyebrows a little bit. "Yes, well. You're a cripple."
"So? I just can't fly! You're gonna be kind and you can't fly either!"
"I'm not king, I'll be king consort. And I never could fly in the first place; I'm perfectly human."
"Exactly! There's kings who can't fly all the time! I wouldn't be the only one!"
He snorted.
"What?" Nathaniel crossed his arms and huffed indignantly.
He shook his head. "You're tiny, and a cripple."
"Shut up!" Nathaniel bristled, his crumpled wings puffing up.
He shook his head again.
"I'm still perfectly capable of doing most things! Just because I can't fly doesn't mean I couldn't be king!"
He snorted. "Yeah, sure."
Nathaniel hopped to his feet and glared up at Anton, still bristling. "I'd make a better king than you ever will!"
Anton cocked his head. "Says who? You?"
"Yes! And technically, I'm above you." Nathaniel crossed his arms and huffed.
"Ah? Is that so, shorty?"
Nathaniel flushed a bit and glared at Anton. "I'm not that short!"
