Alex watched Gabe go, letting out a faint breath.

Gabe came back soon, smiling at Alex.
"There anything you want to do?"
Alex shrugged a little bit. "I don't know." he replied softly.

Gabe sat next to Alex, nodding.
"Figured as much, and that's okay." He gave Alex a tiny smile.
Alex returned the smile cautiously. "Alright."

Gabe sighed a little, leaning back in his chair.
"How does some music sound?"
"Oh– sure." He replied with a quick, faint little smile.

"Alright then!" Gabe stood, pulling out an oh so precious record player.
"This was a gift from a wealthy family I had helped," he explained.

Alex stood up, looking at the player. "Oh. That's…impressive."

Gabe nodded.
"How does some ragtime sound?"
"Sure." he replied, only dimly aware of what ragtime was.

Ragtime was some of the most popular music of the day, and it was excellent for dancing. Gabe set a record going, smiling as the best started. It made him want to dance.
Alex listened quietly, head cocking slightly to one side.

Gabe smiled at the tune, dancing a little.
"Join me?" He offered his hand to Alex.
Alex blinked, cautiously taking Gabe's hand. "I don't know how to dance." he admitted softly.

"Then you can learn with me." Gabe pulled Alex closer to himself.
"Try moving to the music," he instructed.
Alex bit his lip a little as he was pulled closer, but danced with Gabe carefully.

The tempo was quick, the notes lending themselves to a steady beat. Gabe moved his body in response, looking like he was having fun. He helped Alex along with the dancing too.
"You're doing amazing," he encouraged, smiling.
Alex offered a flickering smile in response, trying to follow with Gabe's movements.

Gabe took both of Alex's hands in his swinging them as they danced.
"You look great," he let slip.
Alex blinked, a blush dancing across his cheeks. "I-I…"

Gabe blushed too when he realized what he had said.
"I-I…" He seemed to echo back. And then, for probably the first and last time, he gave in. He stopped dancing with Alex as he had been, and started dancing with him like an actual partner. He looked away a moment, blushing a bit.
Alex blushed more as Gabe changed the positioning a little bit, and he swallowed softly, unsure how to take this.

Gabe just let himself get swept up in the music and the dancing. Hell, at one point he even had Alex twirl. The entire time he was blushing, but… He still seemed happy. Happier, even.
Alex twirled when Gabe motioned him to, a faint smile on his face as he danced with the other man.

Gabe was smiling too now. He danced close to Alex, moving in sync with him and the music. They were so very, very close… When the record ended, Gabe pulled back a bit, but he was still right there.
"You were wonderful," he said, slightly out of breath, but not because of the dancing.
Alex looked up at him, that faint smile tugging at his lips and his cheeks painted pink with a blush. "Th-thanks." he said softly.

Gabe looked down at Alex, still standing close.
"I…" he trailed off. "I enjoyed this." He smiled softly.
Alex smiled a little, nodding. "I…me too." He replied softly.

Gabe moved a bit closer to Alex. It would be so easy to just… kiss him. To give in entirely. It showed in his eyes, his face, he wanted to, he wanted to so badly.
