“It would be no trouble, and it would be much faster,” Juliet said with a shrug. “Unless you would prefer to walk?”
Fairytale Rewrite [O/O — Closed // Stalkers welcome]
“Well… I don’t want to inconvenience you. I feel like it’s better for me to walk.” He limped toward. “See, I’m okay.”
Juliet observed him for a moment before nodding. “All right. As long as you don’t get to far behind or fall.”
Cormac nodded and limped closer. “I’m right behind you,” He said with a bow. “Thank you, again, m’lady.”
“I would never leave someone hurt. Especially not if that person was a knight, since they defend the kingdom,” Juliet declared with a small nod as she started toward the palace.
Cormac turned a face. “I don’t always defend it. I just run petty errands.” He sighed softly as he limped heavily after her, his breathing growing heavy. He had really underestimated his injury.
Juliet’s sharp ears picked up the sound of his breathing becoming heavier, and she glanced behind herself at him.
“Are you sure that you can continue to walk?” she questioned, looking him over.
Cormac nodded, his arms limp at his side and his head hanging. “Quite…. quite alright… thank you…” He suddenly wished he wasn’t wearing his heavy armor, just wearing the comfy clothes on underneath.
“I don’t believe you. You look and sound exhausted,” Juliet declared, giving him a look. “And that armor must be heavy. At least let me carry that so you can walk easier.”
Cormac looked up at the closenin g palace of hers. “N-no, it’s okay. Don’t worry of me, my lady.”
(Nearing, you mean? I don’t think closening is a word… lol)
Juliet looked at him through narrowed eyes for a moment longer before nodding and turning back around. “Then please keep up. I don’t want to leave you behind.”
(Ugh whatever
My keyboard is all screwed up so I can’t fx anything)
“I’m trying my hardest,” Cormac responded, sounding exhausted but willing to walk.
(Lol.)
Juliet sighed and slowed her pace just enough that he wouldn’t have to struggle as much. She hoped that the staff wouldn’t be too curious about him, and that they would stay hidden. They couldn’t be seen by the outside world. Too many questions would be asked…
Cormac glanced up, swallowing. “Sorry. How much longer, my lady?” He wouldn’t admit, as a knight, that he’d like to sit down.
“Just a few more minutes until we arrive,” Juliet explained as the palace grew ever closer. “When we arrive, I will take you to the kitchen, but I will have to check on something first.”
“Something?” Cormac couldn’t help asking. “Alright… Why the kitchen? Don’t you have an infirmary or something?”
“No, I do not. At least, not at the moment,” Juliet muttered under her breath. There’s no one to run it anymore…
“Oh.” Cormac coughed a couple times. “We-well, who covers the health-keeping , then?”
“There is not much that needs to be done. I do what needs to be done, if it ever comes up,” Juliet said, somewhat stiffly.
Cormac chewed on his tongue at her tone, dipping his head and limping in as much silence as he could muster. He didn’t want to anger his savior p. There was a chance she would throw him out again…
Juliet stared straight ahead, feeling her throat growing thick as she held back her tears. She should be used to this by now, but it still hurt to think that she had once had a normal life, that she had once been more than just the beast living in the castle on the hill. It was still hard, sometimes, and she tried not to think about it.
Cormac started to wheeze louder despite his attempts of trying to stay quiet. He chewed on his lip and looked down at the ground. A soldier of should never show his injury, Rung his father’s voice. He nodded and inhaled sharply, despite the rattling pain in his chest.
They finally arrived at the palace doors, and Juliet looked up at them before turning to the knight. “I will be right back to let you in,” she said before disappearing inside.
Cormac glanced up, and was only able to blurt out an, “Okay” before she left. He leaned against the stone pillar of the bridge, coughing into his hands. His coughs were heavy and breathless.
Juliet walked inside before closing the door behind her. She quickly found her staff, let hem know hey were having a guest and that they were not to interact with him, before she walked back and opened the door again.
“You may come inside now,” she said, glancing at the man worriedly.
Cormac leaned slowly off of the pillar and dragged himself over, nodding. “Lead… the way… m’lady,” He managed to get out.
“Are you sure that I can’t carry you? I don’t want you to collapse on the way,” Juliet offered again as she closed the door behind him.
Cogsworth, Lumiere, And Mr. Potts peeked our from behind another doorway, opposite to the one the pair would pass through. They glanced at each other curiously as they saw the man step inside behind their mistress. Who was this knight? And what had happened that even Juliet looked worried about him?
Cormac nodded slowly and straightened up despite his stabbing pains. “I’m sure, my lady. The kitchen is wonky this way, right?” He pointed in a random direction, hoping he didn’t have to drag himself up steps.
Juliet shook her head and pointed a different way. "To our right. You can follow me," she stated, already moving in that direction.
Cormac nodded and dragged himself after her, trying to keep a hold on his breath. It’s okay… it’s okay..
