(Ah. Well, if they send up any red flags I say you could drop it, but if they just seem like a stupid kid I say give them a chance, at a distance.)

@Tired-but-passionate

(Alright then. I am put off by their writing, I will say that, but we’ll see how this goes)

(Indeed! I created her to approve to Audiences! But also as wish fulfillment for myself.)

"Yes, and no. My dreams have more meaning than most, Uncle." her voice almost echoed at that last part, and it didn't sound like it was Esmerelda that was speaking. But she softened again, and allowed herself to be embraced, just sitting there and shaking a little with her eyes tight shut, not wanting Robert to see her in the state she was in but also not wanting him to leave. She was so lonely, and Robert felt like her only friend what with how dysfunctional her mothers were currently. "No more lies." she said ominously, moving away with her eyes still shut tightly.

He was quiet for a while. The change in her voice had spooked him a little, and he went very still.
Was what she said true? If so, why had Victor been taken away? And why doesn’t he want to escape? What do they, whoever they are, have that could keep him wherever they’ve taken him? Nothing made sense, and Robert hated it. Clearly, he had been playing God again. But what happened after? He desperately wanted to talk to the creature, but now was not the time. How Esme could know about this was a whole thing of its own.
“No more lies,” he echoed. Then he sighed. “I want to believe it’s a dream very much,” he admitted. “But you knew about so many other things, didn’t you?”

"I do. Can we not talk about this now? I'm sleepy. Can you read me a bedtime story?" Esme immediately seemed back to normal, and she was already tucking herself into bed expectantly. "Pleeeeeaaaaase? I really wanna read the one about the boy who flew into the sun, Icarus he was called? That was a fun story." she smiled, wiggling her shoulders a bit in anticipation.

@Tired-but-passionate

(Well really it’s flashbacks to when they talked in the garden, so tears of sorrow as well)

(Oh noooo I'm sorryyyyyy!)

@Tired-but-passionate

Robert did not go back to normal. There were too many things to think about, too many questions to ask. But he yawned. He was getting sleepy as well. Though, the yawn seemed to clear his mind, and his expression softened.
“Of course. I’m sorry, I…” he trailed off, his eyes suddenly stinging. He took deep breaths, getting up and pulling a book from the shelf in the corner of the room. By the time he sat back down, he got his emotions under control, the tears were gone.
“‘The Tale of Icarus,’” he began. “‘Long, long ago, in a land called Greece, there was a famous inventor, and his son…’”

@Tired-but-passionate

(Aww it’s alright)

"Don't be sorry!" Esme smiled brightly, settling into bed. A few minutes into the story she was out completely, snoring gently and stirring just a little, then stopping. Anna came up just then, and smiled, she wished she could have more moments like this, but then she noticed Robert's face. "You've been crying, Robert. Something's clearly wrong, and I would like to talk about it to you, but I also would like you to talk to the creature. He's very distressed, and you have questions you need answered, so why not kill two birds with one stone? Just be sensitive about how you bring things up, you have a better bedside manner than I but you can still be a bit forward."

@Tired-but-passionate

(Robert: oh I haven’t been crying but my emotions have been punching me in the gut lately and my brain’s on overdrive, I’m fine)

Robert trailed off when he noticed Esme had fallen asleep, and he reached over and combed his fingers through her hair for a few moments before hearing Anna come in.
“What? No, I haven’t. I just teared up. I don’t know why, it’s alright.” He covered his face with hands and rubbed it before letting his hands falling to his sides. He got up.
“I do have questions,” he murmured, chuckling slightly. “That sounds like a wonderful idea. I’ll be careful.”
He bent down and kissed Esme’s forehead, then went over and joined Anna, silently taking deep breaths.
“How is the patient?” He asked.

"Ishtar is doing fine. She's sleeping now, if you want to see her. Ah… the creature is not doing so well. After he picked out a name for her, he just went silent. You might be able to get through to him, but… well, you'll see. At least the poor girl is doing alright, I've gotten her some clothes though they're a bit big so we'll have to see a clothier soon, and lord knows what a mess that'll be." she sighed. "She's like a baby, at this stage. She won't be able to properly communicate, but the damage is not so bad as all that and she'll likely learn quickly, if we take the time to teach her. Hopefully speech will not be so hard, as eating came quickly when I showed her how." she shrugged, and took Robert by the wrist, leading him down the stairs.

@Tired-but-passionate

(Ishtar? I love it-)

(It's pretty, and also I just thought it suited her. I didn't want to name her Persephone, because of how tragic her story is, but a goddess with connections to the Underworld sounded like it would be neat so thus, Ishtar.)

@Tired-but-passionate

(I wouldn’t say her story is tragic, but her name does inspired a lot preconceived notions about her and her story. Ishtar does suit her. Man, I almost want to name the creature Thamuz, or however it’s spelt)

(Tammuz? I think? I was thinking he'd go for something a bit more like Zagreus or Dionysus, I am partially being influenced by watching OSP's myth videos so forgive me.)

(I could name him Cassandra, like Cassandra of Troy? Because nobody believes him when he says that he's actually good, like how nobody believed Cassandra's prophecies and also because creatures have no time for gender, fuck that noise.)

@Tired-but-passionate

(Asksakjadmk yes to all dude. Yes to all. And it’s fine, I’m totally influenced by their videos as well, and the Hades game by Supergiant Games, so I’m vibing with Zagreus hehehehee)

(I mean valid my dude. I have not played the game but it seems pretty good.)
