Sebastian’s eyes flickered up to meet hers once more, a sort of sympathy softening his almost scared expression. “I’m sorry for… whatever happened.”

(Oh, and he was over-analyzing everything when he was playing Clue with me and my sister. Lol. I won. ;D)
Devon smiled and shook her head. "It's fine. It was a while ago, now. I'm more worried about how you're doing than my past."
(Lol nice)
Sebastian nodded, though he wasn’t convinced. “You don’t need to worry about me, I’m fine..”
"Well… Do you need anything?" Devon asked, changing the topic. "I could go ask a nurse for you."
Sebastian shook his head, a wry smile making its way into his face. “No, thank you. Is there anything you need?”
"No, I'm good. Thanks for asking," Devon said, giving him a small smile. She glanced around the room with a sigh, unsure of what to do now. There wasn't really any reason for her to go home quite yet, since her parents had Lilah, but if he didn't need anything then she didn't really need to stay…
Should we skip?)
(Sure; to when?)
A few days after? Sebastian visits devon at work with a small gift to thank her?
(That would be cute~! Devon doesn't really get gifts, so she might be a little emotional about it.
Do you want me to start this time?)
(Awe
Sure, yeah)
Devon sighed as she started making another customer's drink. They had been very busy for a few hours earlier in the day, and it was just beginning to die down now. She couldn't wait to go on break; she was tired and getting hungry.
Sebastian held the small parcel close to his chest as he pushed open the door of the coffee shop. His eyes searched the counter for Devon, lighting up when they found her, and he did his best to ignore the pounding of his head and heart as he approached.
Devon had just finished up helping a customer when Sebastian walked up. She glanced up from the counter, smiling when she saw him.
"Hey, Sebastian! What can I get you today?" she asked.
Sebastian fidgeted anxiously with his sleeve, sliding the parcel across the counter. “Nothing today, actually. I wanted to thank you for yesterday.. so I got you some chocolates and a gift card.”
"You… got me a gift?" Devon said quietly, looking down at the present. "You didn't have to do that, Sebastian…"
He shrugged uncomfortably, tugging down the hood of his sweater. “Hey, you left your daughter to take me to the hospital. The least I could do was get you some sweets.” The first but was said quietly, lest she didn’t want her coworkers to know about Layla.
Devon smiled at him and looked back down at the gift. "Thank you… Really. This is so nice of you… I don't really get many gifts," she said softly, adding a light chuckle to make it seem like his wasn't as big of a deal to her as it really was.
He shrugged awkwardly again, not really knowing how to deal with thank-yous. “Anytime,” he responded, shifting on his feet. “When do you have leave?”
Devon hummed and glanced at the clock on the wall. "Not for a few more hours. I can go on break in a couple minutes, though."
The thought made him smile hesitantly. “Could I.. accompany you on your break?”
Devon turned back to Sebastian, blinking once in surprise. "Oh. Sure, yeah. Of course. I was just going to sit in the break room and eat my lunch, but if you want to join me that would be okay."
He shifted a second time, rubbing at one of the many bruises on his cheek. “If you’d like.”
"Or we could grab a couple of coffees and go for a walk or something," Devon suggested with a shrug, speaking a little faster than normal because she really wasn't used to people actually wanting to spend time with the woman who had a child while she was unmarried. Not that it was really a rare occurrence. Some people just didn't understand…
But Sebastian was different. He didn't care that she had a daughter out of wedlock; in fact, he really seemed to live the little girl. And he didn't ask how it had happened. That was such a relief to Devon. She really didn't enjoy telling people the story.
“Sure, sounds great,” Sebastian answered with a lopsided smile, picking up the faster speed of her speaking. Was he making her nervous? Had he done something wrong? “Do you want me to pay?”
Devon took a deep breath, calming herself down a little. She was just kind of flustered by the gift and his offer to actually spend time together. "No, no. I get a free drink every shift, and I'm working two today, so I get two drinks."
“Sounds good, I guess,” Sebastian smiled, though his brow was furrowed slightly. “You okay?”
"Hm? Yeah, I'm fine… Sorry, I'm being weird," Devon said in her normal speed, shaking her head a bit.
"You're not being weird," he assured her quickly, stepping out of line when he realized that others were probably waiting too. "When did you say your break was?"
(somewhat soonish, can something happen with Devon? Maybe she has a panic attack? breaks down in front of Bahstin?)
(Lol. You just love that nickname, don't you? And sure. I'll just have to figure out what…)
"Oh… It's in just a few minutes," Devon said, glancing at the clock and then at a coworker. "Unless I can get off now…"
Her blonde coworker looked over and chuckled. "Go ahead. I've got this."
