Joy straightened her back and smoothed down her shirt in nervousness, both herself and Bryce standing at the doorstep. Bryce was being patient, letting Joy collect herself, but they’d been standing outside for five minutes.
Finally, Joy took a deep breath, raised a finger, and pressed the bell. Before they could even blink, the door opened and a woman, appearing to be in her late thirties, opened the door.
“Joy, what a pleasant surprise,” the woman greeted, stepping aside to let them both pass. “And Bryce, too, it seems. You two didn’t give a warning. How are you?”
