(Merry Christmas!!)
She woke before the rest of the girls but unable to fall back asleep without him invading her dreams so she just stayed up and watched the sunrise.

After changing to a new set of clothes — he had apparently fallen asleep in his clothes from yesterday — Sterling ran his hand through his hair. He smiled as he stepped outside, his hands in his front pockets as he made his way to Cassie's cabin.
She didn't know if she should move or not because of her ankle. So she just sat in the now silence of the cabin.
(My stepdad made so much food for breakfast that were all super full, and we didn't even eat everything…)
Sterling stepped up to the door and knocked, smiling as he waited for her to let him in. Or at least say he could come in.
(We're still making breakfast. Sausage gravy and biscuits is always worth the wait.)
"Come in!" She called from her spot in the corner. She liked her bed, it was tucked away by a window so she could watch the sunrise.
(Ooh… My stepdad started all of our food before my sister and I were even awake, I think. We had so much food. Lol. Like, I'm probably not going to need lunch before we head to my family party thing.)
Sterling stepped in and closed the door behind himself. "Hey. How's your ankle feel?" he asked as he made his way over.
"It feels okay but I haven't tried to walk on it so I don't know." She shrugged.
"Do you want me to go get you some ice after breakfast?" Sterling offered, reaching her bed.
"Please? That'd be lovely." She smiled a little.
"Of course. How about I go eat and grab that for you real quick, then?" Sterling suggested. "I'll be back in about thirty minutes."
(Christmas haul? Pretty good!)
"Okay. I'll just sit here and be bored. Like I have been all morning." She chuckled.
(Lol. Did you already open stuff?)
Sterling grinned and pecked her lips. "Sorry, sweetheart. Maybe you'll fall back asleep for a bit."
(Yep! I got a new pair of headphones I'm super happy!)
"Maybe. We'll see." She giggled, snuggling back into her blankets.
(Ooh, nice! My sis and I got to open a few things last night. I got socks, pajamas that are a size too if so my mom is going to exchange them, a pen, notepad, and matching stationary, a Christmas ornament, and a thing to make my own ugly socks. Lol. And my sister got me a cute dish that says "sister")
"I'll be back soon," Sterling chuckled, starting back toward the door.
"See you soon, love." She yawned and slowly fell back asleep, her dreams about him returning.
Sterling smiled at her before he stepped out and headed to the dining area. This was the one time of the day where all the students were doing the same thing at the same time: eating, chatting, and laughing. He got what he wanted and ate quickly, then grabbed a tray for Cassie, as well as an ice pack, before heading back to her cabin.
She had already fallen back asleep, her oversized Army t-shirt that she slept in slipped down her shoulder, making her shiver at the air attacking her skin.
(cough)
(Sorry. I was at a Christmas thing and then I was catching up.)
Sterling knocked on the door and waited for a bit before he knocked again. When she didn't answer, he let himself into he cabin, smiling when he saw her sleeping form.
Unlike her usual jittery nature, her sleeping figure was calm and peaceful. Her hair was tied up into a braid that laid over her bare left shoulder. She was curled up on her right side, lips parted slightly and breathing slowly.
Sterling silently pulled a chair over, setting the tray down beside the bed. He fixed the sleeve of her shirt before he played with her hair a bit.
Her blood red hair was slightly messy from the night but still rather pretty in its braid. She had a way of being perfectly beautiful without even trying, she just never admitted to it.
With a small smile, Sterling ran his hand down her arm and held her hand in his. He really didn't want to wake her; she just looked so peaceful…
She twitched slightly like a ripple in a calm lake. She tensed, biting her lower lip in what seemed to be anxiety.
Sterling frowned slightly and moved his hand to cop her cheek. He lightly patted it, seeing if it would wake her up.
She flinched, this time starting to wake up. "No…don't hurt him…it's my fault…NO!!" She jolted up, breathing heavily.
"Hey. Hey, Cass, it's okay… It's okay," Sterling murmured soothingly, taking her hand in his and squeezing it.
She pulled her knees to her chest and dropped her head on top of them. "Just a dream…just a dream…" She muttered to herself.
"Cassandra… Hey, you're okay," Steeling said softly, moving to sit beside her on the bed. "It's all right… Just take some deep breaths, okay?"
She squeezed her eyes shut, refusing to let the tears that were building spill out. "Just a dream…"
