"Mmhmโฆ I'm not entirely sure I believe you," Sterling hummed, leaning close enough to her that their noses touched, not breaking eye contact the entire time.
๐๐ป๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ช๐ฝ๐ฎ ๐ก๐ ๐ฆ๐ฒ๐ฝ๐ฑ ๐๐ช๐ฌ๐ด๐ผ!
"You should." She kept her stand firm, refusing to let his heart melting eyes shake her.
"Hmโฆ You sure?" Sterling asked softly, smirking as he brushed their lips together.
"Very sure." There was a tiny twinge of uncertainty in her voice that she hoped he couldn't hear.
Sterling chuckled and kissed her gently, teasingly. "Really, now?"
"Mhm." She swallowed the nerves in her voice.
"M'kay, sweetheart," Sterling chuckled, pulling away.
She let out a breath she didn't know she'd been holding. Just then, her phone rang. But the ringtone made her blush. "Goddammit Mark, why'd you have to pick Say No To This?" She muttered, picking up. "Wassup?" "Hey Karma, you home?" "Not at the moment. Why?" "Aww, I thought we could have some fun." "Mark you're such a perv." "Only for you, my princess." She laughed with a slight blush.
Sterling frowned a little, over hearing half the conversation. Who was she taking to?
"Right, what do you actually want?" "Just a chance to see my best friend again. Is that illegal?" "If you keep flirting with her, it's going to be." "You wouldn't do that." "Wouldn't I?"
Sterling grunted and looked out the window. His ears were perked as he listened to the conversation.
"When will you be home?" "In about a week." "Do you have someone at home with the cats?" "No, I don't. Poor Storm and Nyx. My babies are all alone." "I can go check on them if you want." "Would you please?" "Of course!"
Sterling glanced over at her, looking slightly confused. They were talking about her cats? Ohโฆ
"Just don't let me catch you snooping through my underwear drawer again." "You had some neat stuff in there!" "We don't talk about that." She blushed heavily.
Sterling's eyebrows shot up, and he looked at her on slight alarm. Whatโฆ?
"You're such a perv." "Yes but you love me for it." "Do I though?"
Sterling hummed, kind of annoyed that he couldn't hear what was being said on the other end of the line.
"Alright, well I gotta go. I'll check up on the cats later. Don't die, okay?" "No promises but I'll try. See ya Mark." "Bye!" She hung up and sighed with a chuckle. "What am I going to do with him?"
"Who was that?" Steeling asked, kissing her cheek gently.
"Mark. One of my old friends." She shrugged.
"Hmโฆ What were you talking about?" Sterling wondered, hoping he wasn't being too pushy or overly protective.
"A couple different things. Mostly my cats."
"He going to check on them for you?" Sterling wondered.
"Mhm. Feed them, give them water, all that stuff."
Sterling nodded slowly. "Andโฆ What was that I heard about your underwear drawer?"
She blushed again. "It was over the summer. A bunch of my friends and I got together for a little bonfire and while I had my back turned, they dared him to go digging through my underwear drawer to see what he could find. But unfortunately for him, I had spilled something on my shirt and went in to go change and caught him."
"Hmโฆ You seem to have an interesting group of friends," Sterling mused.
"Yeah. Too bad they all abandoned me by the first day of school."
"You still have your friend Mark, though. He doesn't seem to have abandoned you."
"Yep. He's the only one left."
