"I didn't fall, though! I'm fine, don't worry," Sterling exclaimed, grabbing a note and a magnifying glass from the safe. "Catch!"
๐๐ป๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ช๐ฝ๐ฎ ๐ก๐ ๐ฆ๐ฒ๐ฝ๐ฑ ๐๐ช๐ฌ๐ด๐ผ!
She caught both items, scanning the note quickly.
Sterling carefully climbed down from the tree and sat down beside her, glancing over her shoulder at the note.
You must search hard for the next clue, for it is very small and might even be beside you. Look high and low, and don't forget the middle, too. It rests in a place not many dare go.
She gasped, she already knew. "The extra cabin! You know, the one that never gets used because there's not enough people to fill it? The one everyone, even the teacher's, say is haunted? That has to be it!"
Sterling blinked. "Oh, yeahโฆ That might be true. Are you ready to go look for it, then?"
"Hell yeah! Let's go!"
"All right, then! To the haunted cabin we go!" Sterling chuckled, standing up. He pulled Cassie up by her hands and flung her over his shoulder, laughing as he started toward the cabin.
She yelped in surprise and laughed. "Jeez, warn a girl before you do that." She took a deep breath. "Nice ass, by the way."
Sterling laughed loudly and tightened his grip on her legs. "Well, thanks. My view's not too bad, either."
She noticed all the weird looks from the people around them. "People are staring, they probably think we're crazy."
"That's fine. At least they'll give us a wide berth, then," Sterling joked with a smile.
"Well there's one of the most popular guys in school carrying the school dork over his shoulder. And after last night, they probably shouldn't look so surprised."
"They definitely should not. I'd be surprised if they didn't think I'd spent the night with you last nightโฆ Or vice versa," Sterling said, shrugging his free shoulder.
"We're never going to be able to live this week down." She noticed a familiar couple in the corner of her eye. Macy was staring at her like she had three heads and Jake was dying of laughter. "Don't give me that look Mace!" "What is even happening?" "To be honest, I don't really know!"
Sterling grinned, chuckling as he shifted her slightly. Yeah, they probably looked incredibly strange, but that was okay with him. He was enjoying this.
"Hey Ares! How's the view?" "Pretty nice, how about yourself?" "Well, it certainly just got a lot more entertaining." Jake smiled his oh so infamous school heartthrob smile that made girls melt.
"I'd certainly hope it was a nice view. I don't work out for nothing," Sterling joked, hugging her legs tighter.
"Is there any reason you're just thrown over his shoulder rather than, I don't know, walking?" "I sprained my ankle last night but still want to help." "How sweet. Hey I'm just gonnaโฆ" He grabbed her by the shoulders and tugged her into his arms. "Take this off your hands!" "Jake!!" She laughed.
Sterling spun around with a laugh. "Hey, that was my sack of potatoes! Give 'er back!" he demanded with a playful grin.
"Why should I? I found her, she's mine!" He teased with a chuckle. "I am not a bargaining chip!" She laughed.
"Why don't we let her decide?" Sterling suggested, raising an eyebrow challengingly. "Cass, would you rather help me search for clues or hang out with him?"
"Ahh, I'm not good at decisions." "Never have been, never will be." "I am going to slap you."
(Jsyk, I'm going to be driving to ND for 8+ hours, so I probably won't be on for that time. Unless I get my phone backโฆ Which isn't very likelyโฆ)
"Wellโฆ You do want to win, don't you?"
(Awww. WHY DOES EVERYONE I KNOW ON HERE ONLY LIVE IN THE MIDWEST.)
"Of course!" "Yeah butโฆ friendship." He pulled her closer and she giggled.
(Lol. Shade and I live in the same state, too.)
"Yeah, butโฆ Free foodโฆ And me," Sterling chuckled, giving her a meaningful look.
"Nope. I'm taking her. Bye!" He turned on his heel and walked away with her, making her crack up in his arms. "Don't laugh at me Ares!"
Sterling blinked and raised an eyebrow. Did she not want it come with him? Or what?
"Jake put me down!!" "Alright, alright, no need to yell." He chuckled and literally just dropped her, landing flat on her back.
Sterling huffed a bit and hurried over I help her up. "You okay?" he murmured so only she could hear.
"I'm alright." She coughed. "Just a little winded."
