"Hey, Jilly? Alex and I wanted to talk to you about something," Autumn started softly as she walked into the living room and sat down on the couch. She glanced up at her boyfriend with a small smile, hoping he would continue.

Jilly was on the floor, reading a book that Alex had bought for her. It was a cute little dog and cat book. She looked up when Autumn entered and sat up off of her tummy, blinking.
“What is it?” She looked between the two adults.
Alex sat down next to Autumn and took her hand. “We wanted to ask you if you wanted us to be your parents,” He said softly, smiling warmly at the girl.
Jilly set the book down on her lap, looking up at Autumn then to Alex again.
“Really?”

Autumn gave her a small, tentative smile. It might be a little soon, but it would be good for the girl to have a permanent home. "Yeah, really… If that's okay with you, of course," she said softly. Gosh, she was nervous about how Jillian would react. Not that the girl had been anything but sweet to them… She had been so great to have around the house, and Autumn really hopes she would agree.
