Aster almost cursed when Harry threw his sketchbook towards him. It hit his elbow, at least not as hard as that time when Harrison threw a rock at him. Thankfully.
Out of curiosity, Aster picked up the sketchbook and opened through. Noticing how much time and effort Harrison actually put into each sketch, he smirked. Part of him wanted to basically break Harrison’s soul, another part pitied him. Maybe he’ll make that decision later.
Closing the sketchbook, Aster threw the sketchbook to the other side of the counter.

“I mean, I don’t know if it’s delicious but boy do I know if it’s fun,” Aster added to what Emi said, giving her a small wink after.

In the garden, Gavin was seen to be chasing some insects with some disappointed sighs coming from him. He managed to catch some, yes, but most of what he wanted ran or flew away. He noticed that both Harrison and Vix came outside. Seemed like the demon and vampire were making them mad again. To be perfectly and brutally honest, they make everyone mad just to different levels.
Gavin turned to the two who came out, gave them a warm smile then proceeded to fly after another monarch butterfly he found.

Eskja took a sip of her tea, holding the mug in her hands. She savoured the hotness of it while it lasted. Anybody focusing on the cup could easily see the steam quickly stop rising from the top of the mug as it adjusted to her cool body temperature. Normally, things didn’t cool down this much, but Eskja just supposed it was all of the yelling that had occurred so far this morning which had stressed her out. How eventful it had been this morning, Eskja dreaded what sort of things would occur in the rest of the day.

Eskja was normally not a confrontational person, as she glanced at those that were left in the kitchen. But she felt as though she needed to say something.

“That wasn’t very reasonable or nice at all.” Although she meant to actually say it loudly, a statement, it came out more as a mumble if anything. She almost regretted that immediately, given she didn’t really speak to too many people in the house. Eskja was sure she could hold her ground - handle herself in a conversation, she just rarely ever saw the opportunity. If they even acknowledged her, that was - which Eskja slightly hoped that they did not, at least not right now.
She settled to drinking her tea, turning away for the time being.

The vast garden was peaceful, save Gavin chasing after insects, so Harrison found himself declining against one of the large oak trees that provided a great amount of shade. It was one of his favourite places to sit and think, often he drew or read a book out there, but he wasn’t in the mood to do anything other than think. He noticed Vix had followed him out, and gestured for her to join him. “I could use a little friendly company, would you mind sitting with me?”

Vix slumped down down the tree next to Harrison. "I know it can be hard to tune those pricks out, but you know yelling probably wasn't the best thing it do in that situation." She said as she drank her coffee. "I think you need to get out of the house, go do something, make a friend, I don't care. You just need to get away from them."

@The-Magician group

“Yelling is never the best thing to do in any situation.” Harrison sighed, leaning his head back against the trunk, looking up at the sun that poked through gaps between the leaves. “I just want to try and make them see that I care for them, and that I don’t want them doing anything that will get any of us into trouble. It’s a cruel world out there, and it doesn’t need any more violence and suffering.” he took a deep breath, smiling gently at the fox. “It might be nice to leave the house for a bit, if only to go for a walk and clear my head. Thank you.”

Vix made a strange yipping noise, her version of a laugh. "My opinion here, I don't think they could care less if you cared about them. I know Emi would be happier if she wasn't here and I honestly don't think that Aster would care if you were here." She explained, before taking a long sip of coffee to let her words sink in.
"But again, my opinion. I could be wrong."

@The-Magician group

“It doesn’t matter if they don’t care.” Harrison’s expression fell slightly, his eyes softened to the point where they looked almost sad. “Those two have been with me the longest, save Eskja, and they’ve become something like family now. I’m not the type of man to leave family behind just because they’re different.” He gently poked Vix’s leg with a slight smile. “If I was then you wouldn’t be here.”

"Hey!" Vix said as she sat up a bit staighter, shooting a playful glare at Harrison. "I'm not that bad! I could at least pass for human." She flipped a price of hair out of her face. "Not that I'd want to, but I could!"

group
@The-Magician group

"That wasn't what I meant and you know it." The man let out a soft laugh, shaking his head while his hands found clumps off grass to tear out of the ground. "I'm saying that if I was the type to leave family behind, none of you would be living here right now. I'd have turned you all away, left you to fend for yourselves." he glanced up at Vix, tilting his head. "But what kind of person would that make me? Not a good one, that's certain."

group
@Shadow_Knight group

Vix pursed her lips. "I know. I still wouldn't blame you if you did though." She admitted, holding her coffee cup with her full hands for warmth. "Without us, you'd have a normal life. You wouldn't have to be constantly babysitting a bunch of magical beings that act like toddlers when they don't get their way."

Harrison waved his right hand dismissively. "I grew up with six younger siblings, all of whom could give one of Emi's tantrums a run for her money. This is practically the same thing, just with a bit less normality involved." Not that he minded the abnormality of his situation, he was just thankful that his mother hadn't tried to arrange a visit—although knowing her she would just turn up unannounced—that would have been another issue to deal with and he didn't exactly want her disappointment on top of the stress he was already facing. His eyebrows furrowed for a moment, and he opened his mouth as if to ask a question. He hesitated before asking, as if he were afraid of the answer. "Vix, are you happy living here?"

@PrettyLittlePyro

(Give Emi a run for her money? XD)

There were two ways to take Aster's words. Emi smirked playfully, her red eyes glowing with challenge and bloodlust. "It is absolutely delicious. Like I said to Vix earlier, you should try it. It is a rather - how shall I put it - enjoyable thing. Very tasty. Once you have a taste of it, there is no going back."

(Sorry, did you not understand the idiom? It might be a British thing..)

Vix gave Harrison a soft smile. "I'm happier living here than I was living anywhere else. It's hard to find good place's to stay when your like me and yours has so far been the most enjoyable, even with the sadists." She explained. "I've been here long enough to actually consider it a home. I can't say I've done that a lot."

@PrettyLittlePyro

(No, no, I understood it just fine! I love how you used that line. I thought it was clever, sorry XD)

Aster turned to her.
“Still. This is the human world and as Harrison warned both of us, and I quote, ‘a million times already’, I don’t think we’ll be murdering anyone any time soon. Plus, I’m not those who are aggressive on the field—“ he shifted to stand in front of her and to hold the back of her neck as he spoke “—but I can be very aggressive elsewhere though…” his tone was clearly stating the answer. He gave a seductive smile.

“Anyways—“ he let go and turned to the other people in the room “—I’m heading to the shop to get some groceries, anyone want anything?”

@ADog

Eidus slammed open the door and sprinted out of the laundry room and peeked around the corner into the kitchen, his black eyes wide as if he had had a 12 hour sleep. "Groceries shopping? Can I go?!" Eidus never misses any chance to go outside.

Finishing up her tea, Eskja set her cup onto the counter for the time being. Upon hearing ‘groceries’, she turned to look at Aster. “I’ll probably go for some fish, if you can find any at the store. Any form of seafood would be good, actually.” Being a maritime dragon species and all, it made sense for her to prefer seafood.

Eskja looked towards Eidus the moment he peered into the room. She looked to Aster. “Actually, I’d like to come as well, if that would be good with you?” Eskja had been meaning to get some air for a while, and this could prove to be an opportunity. If not, she’d just go outside on her own time, but it was worth asking, wasn’t it?

Aster sighed a bit.
“Fine. But don’t expect me to babysit any of you. Hopefully you’ll both be fine on your own…” he stated clearly as he turned back to Emi.
“Are you coming?” He asked, tilting his head. If he was being honest with himself, Emi did seem like his only real friend here. Perhaps because they do share quite similar traits. They only had each other if it was to be put in simpler terms.

@PrettyLittlePyro

"You can be, hmm?" Emi purred seductively. "I'd like to see that sometime." She pulled away and heaved herself back up on the counter, legs crossed. "Why would you go shopping at a time like this?" She asked. "All it does is tempt me to kill." She sighed and stretched her long, pearly white arms above her head. "I guess I'll come, if there's nothing better to do than help Vix with her mouse problem."

“I mean… you can go look at knives again. You know how much money I managed to get from constantly bugging Harrison so I don’t think cash is much of a problem.” He regarded, motioning to the door with some motivation. The thing he wanted to buy this time wasn’t something ridiculous like people might think, though it was going to be relatively expensive.
“So… is that everyone?” Aster asked, leaning against the door while still having his right hand on the doorknob.

@PrettyLittlePyro

"Alright, then, if you say so." Emi mock yawned, raising one clawed hand to cover her mouth. "What are you planning on getting?" She knew Aster, knew that he had a reason for everything that he did. She motioned around the kitchen. "We'll make quite a party, eh?"

group
@The-Magician group

A small voice croaked from the doorway to the kitchen. A boy, who looked no older than a teenager, stood awkwardly, his eyes darting around the floor so as not to make eye contact with anyone in the room. “I’d like to go, I uh.. I need to pick up some things.”
Lock didn’t often leave the residence, but it was good to have a change of scenery once in a while. It was going to be interesting, since he knew Aster and Emi hated his guts.

group
@CasiCasino group

Aster was about to answer Emi’s question but when little o’ Lock had to show up, his eyes darted to him immediately. His irises narrowed as his scleras turned a deep black color. He cursed softly once before his scleras turned back to white.
“I’m getting some milk and butter since Harrison doesn’t know how to get them himself after they ran out,” he answered in somewhat of a complaining tone. He may be an asshole, but he somewhat cared for other people. Somewhat.

@The-Magician group

(Oh hell nah, Harry ain't that incapable)

"I.. I see." Lock nodded his head as he mumbled. He glanced up for a moment, his eyes catching onto Aster, causing his face to flush as he averted his gaze back down. Something about the demon always set him on edge—it was no wonder the flowers on his plants looked a little droopy. He showing his hands into the pockets of his khakis, rocking back and forth on the balls of his feet. "Sh-Shall we be off?"

@SeLosMeMos

Gavin failed to chase the butterfly he wanted and pouted, making his way over to Harry and Vix. He jumped over the two and sat on the tree branch above them.
“What happened inside?” He finally spoke after his very uncomfortable silence. On the tree, he found a bird’s nest with five small birds inside.
“And when did you get these in?”

group
@CasiCasino group

(Still— I need my demon boy to subtly show his soft side)

“I guess,” Aster answered sternly, finally opening the door. Outside was a bit out of the ordinary today. Some cars were on the streets, not too many, but it was quite rare to see those. Aster sighed in utter disappointment. Of course, how could he forget that Harrison’s house wasn’t anywhere near anything. It was going to be a bit of distance before they even reached the marketplace.

group
@The-Magician group

(Ah just letting you know, the house is pretty much in the middle of nowhere and there's a long road leading out towards town)

"Ah.." Harrison looked up at Gavin, nodding his head to him. "Just Aster and Emi being themselves. As for the birds you'll have to ask Lock. He knows more about the land than I do since he's been here longer." Now that he thought about it, Lock must have been really old at this point. He'd seen Harrison's great-grandfather and his grandfather pass away, and yet he continued to take care of the land for every other Dale generation that happens to live on the estate. Lock never acted like he was old and mature, the complete opposite in fact, but Harrison knew that there was a lot more to the boy than he let on.
