Corbin paused when the man held up a hand, watching him with concern. Still, he let out a breath of relief at this words.
"Thank you," he said softly. "Yes, you will be greatly compensated for your help." Corbin glanced over to the man from before, the one with white hair as he waited for an answer from him.

Dali gave a short nod, pulling out a chair and sitting in it. He was mostly putting up an act before, well, he did hate the army and such, but the strength was an act. He seriously had needed to sit down like, five minutes ago.
Dragomir took a deep breath and nodded at the king. “Of course…. Thank you for the opportunity, though I’m not entirely sure what I did to deserve attention from the king himself…” He pulled off his hat with his good hand and bowed. “I hope I will be able to help you in whatever way you need….”

"I'm sure you will. Thank you." Corbin offered a small smile. He turned to the halfling sitting down.
"Do you need some time before we leave?" He asked. Corbin stayed standing by the table, his hands folded in front of him.
"I'm fine." Snapped Dali, standing up again, albeit a bit wobbly. He really should invest in a cane, then at least he would look injured and dignified. He straightened his back and shoulders, hand tight around the back of the chair.
Mir looked conflicted on what to do now, wanting to go help Dali, but also knowing that the other’s pride was already extremely bruised and didn’t want to make it worse.

Corbin didn't flinch as the man snapped at him.
"Then let's go." He didn't offer the man help, seeing how the man was reacting to all of this. He shifted some, moving towards the door.
Dali took another deep breath, throwing a mask of apathy over his face as he stood up, leaning more on his un-injured leg. It still hurt like a bitch, though he was careful not to show it.
I probably should've been more polite to the king, he did offer me a job… Damn it, I hope I didn't fuck this up already.

Mir’s gaze looked frantically back and forth between the two, not sure of what to do or what was happening. It was all so sudden and fast.

Corbin had no idea how much the two men owned, or if they would even want to take any of it. Instead, Corbin moved out of the room without a sound, pausing only a moment to offer the man with white hair as assuring smile. It was small, but it was still there. The guards moved when they saw the king, going to flank him again.
When Corbin had his back turned, Dali made his way over to where Mir was standing and whispered in his ear. "Can I lean on you a bit?" His face was still blank, but there was a little wrinkle under his eyes that showed how much he was keeping the pain in.
Mir eagerly nodded when Dali asked to leaned on him, saying softly, under his breath to him, “Of course… I was worried you wouldn’t ask…” He then subtly out a hand out, ready to brace Dali’s back as the other would lean against him on their way out the door to follow the king. They didn’t have anything. The military had taken it all.
Dali did just that, uttering a little "Thank you" under his breath as they walked. It put a bit of pressure off his legs, which didn't do a lot, but it still relived some of the pain of walking.

Corbin was waiting for the two outside of the building, not saying a thing about how they came. He turned again, making a small motion to the guards. In a moment, they were shifting back, moving to protect all three of them. Corbin knew people would stare at the king walking with two cripple halflings, but he didn't care. There was a chance they could help with this was- it was worth it.
Mir cowered a bit as the guards shifted around them, not trusting anyone to truly protect him and Dali. He didn’t entirely trust that the king wasn’t biased against half-breeds either, which made him wary. His heart squeezed painfully at the fact he could feel the waves of pain rolling off of Dali.

Dali fixed his lips in a thin line, one that switched into a deep scowl whenever someone gave them an odd look. Usually he could hide himself as a human, but with Mir his fae blood was somewhat more obvious, so he got the most looks. Once again, he was hit with just how shitty this kingdom was to halfbreeds like them. It didn't come as a supprise, but it still hurt.
