Alex pulled his head back, looking into Aukai's eyes.
"I would die for you." His tone and expression were serious.

Alex pulled his head back, looking into Aukai's eyes.
"I would die for you." His tone and expression were serious.
Aukai shook her head frantically, eyes wide. "No please. Don't say that." Her eyes were a bright, poison green.
group
Alex put his hand on the back of Aukai's neck, worry in his eyes.
"What's wrong?"
Aukai whispered, "There are things that will test your truthfulness if they hear that… Don't ever say that again… I-" she choked up. "I can't lose you…"
group
Alex pulled her close again, clinging to her.
"Then don't leave…" He mumbled into her hair.
Aukai trembled, "B-but I don't want to hurt you… I want you to have a normal, unbothered life… One that isn't scary or dangerous… And you're… mortal. I'm not. I will live for years after you, and I'm terrified of the day I lose you…"
group
Alex held Aukai tightly.
"Then don't let that day come now. All we can do is cherish this time that we do have."
Alley stood on the back porch, mouth gaping open. Eyes wide, she backed up slightly.
Aukai's hair sprouted with flowers as she sighed quietly, calming down as she snuggled into Alex. "I'm sorry… I was being ridiculous…."
group
Alex snuggled into Aukai's hair, breathing her in. He sighed in relief.
"I'm glad."
Aukai took a deep breath and leaned up, kissing his cheek lightly. "Thank you…" she murmured…
group
Alex buried his face deeper into Aukai's hair. He was trying to hide his tears.
Aukai could sense it. He didn't fool her. "I'm sorry… Did I make you cry…?" She asked under her breath to him. She wilted a bit, upset with herself.
group
Alex pulled away for a moment, a weak smile on his lips.
"No, I'm sorry. I just couldn't handle thinking you would leave."
Aukai sighed and smiled sadly. "If you truly cannot handle me leaving, I never shall…" Her fingers came up and traced his cheek, feeling the slight stubble here and there that he was beginning to grow.
group
"How can a guy like me-" He pulled Aukai closer, "-ever deserve a girl like you?"
Aukai shook her head and grinned. "You don't deserve a girl. You deserve a goddess." She stuck her tongue out.
group
Alex gave a cocky smile.
"You're right."
Aukai grinned and quickly kissed him. She smiled as she pulled back, lacing her fingers through his.
group
Alex rubbed that back of Aukai's hand.
"You're beautiful."
Aukai smiled. "Would you love me even if I wasn't as pretty…?"
group
"With all my heart." Alex looked into Aukai's eyes, his own reflecting the light.
Aukai smiled, her eyes turning a soft blue with green around the outsides. "Ok. Now you should get back inside. I'll be back soon, okay?"
group
"Okay." Alex kissed Aukai's forehead, then slowly pulled away from her towards the house.
Aukai looked up to see Alley still frozen in place, gaping. Aukai smiled sadly and disappeared in a puff of salty sea breeze and flower petals.
group
Alley's jaw worked up and down like a fish.
"A-ALEX!" She shrieked. Alex put his hands on his head, groaning softly.
"I should explain…"
(oops… snickers)
Aukai slipped into the water and closed her eyes as she connected to the rest of the ocean, pleading it and the creatures inside it for assistance.
group
After a long talk filled with hysteria and several pinches in the arm, Alley finally came around.
"I really don't like this," She said, sitting on a porch swing.
"Well, it's too late now." Alex sat on the other end of the swing, legs folded under him.
Aukai's body began to glow. She sighed in relief as strength filled her, letting her feel healthy again. This should last for a while… She thanked the world and reappeared in Alex's house, in her sundress again.
group
Alley nearly fell off the swing when she saw Aukai reappear. Alex chuckled, putting a leg down to keep the swing from dumping them on the porch.
"You doing better?" He asked.
Aukai nodded and looked worriedly at Alley. "I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to scare you."
