Alex reluctantly let her sit up. She now sat on his legs, he himself still laying down.

Alex reluctantly let her sit up. She now sat on his legs, he himself still laying down.
Aukai stretched then winced and grabbed her side. "Ah! Damn, that hurt." She sighed and yawned, slipping off the couch and stumbling a little.
group
Alex sat up, then stood. He put his hand under her elbow to catch her as she stumbled.
Aukai smiled at him. "Thanks. Suppose we should head for the library then?"
group
"Yeah. It's just down the road." He moved to the front door and opened it.
"Ladies first."
Aukai smiled and stepped out. "Thank you!" she chirped.
group
Alex stepped out afterward, closing the door quietly.
Aukai slipped her hand into Alex's and headed down off the porch, then down the sidewalk.
group
Alex held it gently as they walked, occasionally glancing at her.
Aukai turned her head and grinned at him. She leaned her head on his shoulder. "What do you do every day wen you're on summer break?"
group
"Me? Well, I volunteer at the park, and then there's the lifeguard position. Oh, and I do a lot of riding and going to tournaments." Alex listed them off, trying to remember everything.
Aukai raised an eyebrow. "What do you volunteer at the park for?"
group
"Clean up, mostly, but sometimes I get to watch the daycare kids. Their parents drop them off at the park, and we make sure they're safe." He got a happy look in his eyes.
Aukai's eyes lit up. "Sounds like fun." she said wistfully before grinning.
group
"Yeah. Maybe, after we break the curse, you could take a day to come to visit?" Alex knew she probably wouldn't, but it did no harm to ask.
Aukai's eyes turned a bright blue. "I'd love to!" she squeaked. "Maybe once a week or something I could visit." Then she thought of something. "I wonder why that other being decided here was a good place to dump me?"
group
Alex smiled at what she first said, then grew thoughtful at the second.
"That I can't say." He turned it around in his head.
Aukai spotted the library. "Well, maybe we'll find something there. Also, if someone you know sees you, you don't know me. Got it?"
group
"Okay." He reluctantly let go of her hand as they reached the library. He held the door open for her, though.
Aukai smiled and thanked him before drifting off into an aisle that looked promising.
group
Alex quietly made his way to the folklore section, looking for local stories.
(Time skip. I also gtg. I don't know when I'll get back on.)
group
(I'm good with time skip, and I'll see you when you get back!)
(Okies, so here's time skip.)
Aukai was passed out on a couch, exhausted. She had had a few hints and pointers she found, but other than that, nothing.
group
Alex was leaning against the front of the couch, eyes closed. He had found nothing but paper cuts in the library. He groaned softly.
Aukai's eye popped open, she grabbed his hand and hauled Alex up onto the couch, next to her. She leaned on him with a sigh. "Nothing then?"
group
Alex shook his head.
"Nothing." He sighed, holding her hand.
Aukai sighed. "At least we have time to figure this out… We'll have to try another library. Maybe the one in my hometown."
group
"Oh? That sounds interesting." Alex rubbed her hand with his thumb.
Aukai hummed softly, snuggling closer as Alex traced over her hand. Felt nice… "Well, let me know when you have a weekend off and I'll bring you with me."
