A cannon ball blew right into the hull of The Cassiopeia. Jemi knew right away that they were being attacked by pirates. "PIRATES!" she yelled. "WE'RE BEING ATTACKED! EVERYONE TO YOUR POSITIONS." she needed to keep everyone and the ship safe but it didn't seem plausible. Jemi had never been attacked by pirates and she didn't exactly know what to do. The Cassiopeia began to be pulled towards the pirate ship and there was nothing Jemi could do. "EVERYONE! GET YOUR WEAPONS. WE NEED TO ATTACK. WE MUST DEFEND THE SHIP. "
One on one?
Chesh looked as the crew on the other ship started to panic. This was going so well. The crew Grabbed a large plank of wood and put it across the two ships once it was reeled in close enough. The crew grabbed there weapons and charged onto the other ship. Chesh grabbed her pistol and daggers and went to charge as well. "Chesh!" Jake yelled. She turned around. "Yes sir?" "Try to grab the Captain if you can." He yelled at her as he grabbed his guns. "Yes sir!" She yelled as she ran onto the other ship.
Jemi, Smith and the rest of the crew were panicking. "Everyone! Remain calm! We must defend the ship!!" The crew clumsily held their weapons and swung them around aimlessly as the pirates charged onto their ship. This is hopeless She and Smith seemed to be the only ones who knew how to fight at all. "Come on! They're here!" Jemi cried, her voice desperate. "Protect the ship! We can't let them get the cargo." But it was useless. The pirates were clearly stronger and more experienced and her crew began to surrender. "NO! Don't surrender! That's an order!" she cried but only a couple of the crew heeded her orders.
Chesh waltzed onto the deck. "Surrender and we will spare your lives!" She yelled. It was so much easier for them and the crew of the attacked to surrender. Less hard for us and less dying for them. Wasn't that a fair trade? She started looking for the Captain of the ship. Her eyes locked onto Jemi who was shouting orders. Bingo.
The pirates struck fear into the hearts of the crew. They were all surrendering and fearing for their lives. "STOP SURRENDERING!" she ordered. But it was no use. Smith was the only person who was still fighting. Faithful old Smith. She knew the fight would be lost, but there was no way in the six seas that Jemi would surrender herself. "We will not surrender!"" But alas, most of the crew had already stopped fighting. The few faithful were still fighting, but their strength had been deplenished. It was only a matter of time before they would be finished.
Chesh smiled as she saw most of the crew. They were the smart ones. Then there was the Captain who must of decided that honor was better than her life. Jake waltzed on board. He looked at some of his crew members. "Restrain the ones who are still fighting. If I can help it I want this to be a bloodless run." He said as the crew members ran to restrain the rest of the ships fighting crew.
Jemi watched as the pirates restrained and captured her crew. She watched as her remaining fighting members were forced to surrender. Her heart sank when she saw that her entire crew, including Smith, had surrendered. Maybe she should just surrender too… But her guts told her to keep fighting. She had fought long and hard to become captain of her ship, and she wasn't ready to give it up. She was lost in what to do and glanced at Smith who was mouthing at her frantically. Wha… she thought, not noticing the pirate sneaking up behind her.
The pirate restrained Jemi and forced her to kneel. Chesh walked over to Jemi and squatted down next to her. "Are you the Captain of this ship?" Chesh asked as she pulled out her pistol and pointed it straight at her forehead.
Jemi was not scared. She did not fear the pirates. She did not fear for her life. But she wondered whether she had made the right choices in not surrendering. Her entire life, she had worked to be at the top and now that she was there…. "Yes! I am the Captain of this ship, and I am proud to be so." she answered. "Leave my men be. Take me if you must but leave them."
Chesh laughed. "Jake said he wanted a bloodless run so that's what's going to happen. Like I said 'surrender and we will spare your lives'. Most of your crew surrendered so we will spare your crew." She said as the crew started to loot the ship. Food, supplies and gold were the things that they needed. Not so much the gold but at least the food and supplies.
"And what will you do with us? If we are being spared, what next? Are we left to die?" Jemi asked. She no longer cared for the cargo on the ship; that battle was lost already. But she had to save her crew. They had lives ahead of them and didn't deserve for it to be taken away because of her recklessness. Despite their incompetence, she knew they were good men at heart.
"When would you be left to die? Your ship is fully functional and harbor isn't that far away. Your men will be fine. We will be taking your cannon balls though so you can't fire at us. Taking the supplies and running. Isn't that what pirates do? Plus I'd be a bit more worried about yourself." She said. "Jake! This is the Captain." Jake walked over to Chesh and Jemi. "Bring her onto to our ship." Jake ordered. The pirates that were holding Jemi began to drag her to The Zodiac.
As long as my men are safe… Although she still wanted to fight, Jemi knew it would be useless and decided against it. She yelled for Smith. "Take care of The Cassiopeia for me, alright?" She trusted Smith and looked to him as she was dragged onto the other ship. "So, what happens to me? My men are safe and will make it back, yes, but what of me?" she asked the pirate who seemed to be second in charge.
Chesh laughed. "You'll see." She said as they dragged Jemi onto the ship. "She's a feisty one." Jake said laughing.
Jemi snarled. "Answer my question." she demanded. She wasn't sure what was going to happen. They had promised to spare their lives, but did pirates even keep their promises? How would she know that as soon as her back was turned that they wouldn't blow a cannon through their ship? Jemi wasn't scared for herself, but she hoped that her crew would live. They deserved as much.
Chesh laughed at this. "I don't have to do anything. Your not the Captain here. Jake is." She said. "So what's your name, Sweetheart? I have to call you something?" She said with a smile as The Zodiac cast off from The Cassiopeia leaving it to works it's way back to the harbor.
"Jemi." she answered. "And do I get to ask you for your name as well? Or am I denied that as prisoner." she retaliated. Being held prisoner didn't hold her sharp tongue. She watched with wide eyes as The Cassiopeia, made its way back to the harbor. They stay true to their word. Perhaps that means no one will die today.
"Chesh." She said with a grin. "Let me ask you something. How long do you think it will be before we get a ransom for you? A week? A month? How important are you?"
How important am I? "Well, I'm the recently promoted captain and overseer for most of the ships on this harbor. But most of the council seems to hate me, so we'll see." she said. "So I think it could be anything between a month and never." she snarled.
Chesh smiled. Feisty. "Fine with me. If we don't get a ransom then we can just leave you on a deserted island." She said smiling. "Jake! What do you want me to do with her?" She yelled.
Jemi glared at Chesh. She didn't have anything to say and quite frankly didn't care. She was a prisoner until these pirates got their ransom. Of course, she didn't feel all that important and most people would probably love to kill her anyway. She sighed and shifted a bit. It looks like I'm gonna be here a while…
"In the cell. Take care of her. I have work to do!" Jake shouted over to Chesh then went back to yelling orders. Chesh gave the pirates holding Jemi a look and they nodded at her. They then began to lead Jemi down the stairs into the ship.
(Bump?)
(Sorryyy I lost this and I've been just blech)
Two men grabbed Jemi's shoulders and dragged her down to the cell. "I can walk by myself, thank you very much!" she snapped. They took her to a small cell under and pushed her in. "And no thank you?!" she called, her voice dripping in sarcasm, as they walked away.
(It's fine. Don't worry about it.)
Chesh leaned on the bars. "They don't care about sarcasm." Chesh said. Chesh studied the girl. She was kinda cute. Chesh shook her head. No. She shouldn't be thinking that. Jemi was a prisoner. Nothing more.
"Well you'd think as prisoner, I'd get more attention." she replied. Jemi looked at Chesh who was leaning on her cell. She sighed. What next…
"Why? We have much more duties to do." Chesh said. "You should know that, Captain."
"Well I haven't been captain very long." she rolled her eyes although in her mind, she knew that experience was something she lacked. "Besides, I could escape. You never know…"
"Sure. And what are you going to do? Escape and go where? We are quite far from land. Besides if Jake likes you we'll let you out soon." She said rolling her eyes.
Jemi looked Chesh into her eyes. "Well I'm a pretty good swimmer." And I can manipulate water too.
