"Still a good swimmer is not going to help you against wave and sharks." Chesh pointed out.
One on one?
Jemi laughed. What she doesn't know… "If you say so." For as long as she could remember, Jemi was able to manipulate water and had a connection with sea animals. It was no wonder she'd eventually make it as captain of her own vessel.
Chesh smirked. Another go luck Captain who thought they could fight off an entire ship of pirates. It didn't matter if they had magic. They would have to get through an entire crew. Chesh sighed. She floated up and sat on the ceiling.
Jemi watched as Chesh floated up. She herself had decided to not use her powers unless she needed to. She sat down and glared at Chesh who was still sitting on the ceiling. "So does everyone here have magic, or is it just a few of you?"
Chesh shrugged. "I know 8 of them have powers and I suspect 4 other have some but I'm not sure. There a few on the ship that don't. I know that." She explained.
(Bump?)
(I couldn't find this and my tabs all closed I'm so sorry!)
Well that's good to know then. Jemi thought. She knew it wasn't wise to try to escape, but she doubted she'd be let go anytime soon, so escape was her best option. Maybe not right away, but if they get closer to shore…
Chesh pushed some of her hair out from in front of her face. "How long had you been Captain?" Chesh asked. This might help them figure how much ransom they would get from her.
Jemi watched as Chesh moved her hair away from her face. Her face was actually very pretty and her purple eyes were more noticable. "Not long." Jemi replied, turning her face away from Chesh's. Her eyes were rather distracting. "A few months." she added.
Chesh sat there for a moment. If she hadn't been Captain for long then it was likely they weren't going to get as much from her. She looked Jemi over. Why was she so cute? Chesh looked away.
Jemi looked at Chesh. "Well? What now?" she asked, not really expecting an answer. She shifted to get more comfortable, but it was hard to get comfortable in a small cell in a moving ship at sea.
"We play the waiting game." She said. She watched Jemi shift in her cell. Chesh got up on the ceiling and left.
She watched Chesh leave and sighed loudly. She got up and walked around the restricted space. Most of the time, she could not keep still and being in a restricted space didn't help. She looked around at what she had. Not much Just her clothes. The captain, Jake, had taken away her weapons before they took her down.
Chesh walked back in, still on the ceiling, and gave Jemi a pillow and blanket. "You looked uncomfortable." She said.
"Wow, you're so observant." she replied sarcastically, taking the pillow and blanket. "It's not like this cramped space is getting to me at all." Jemi set up a small nest for herself. It was definitely…more comfortable… to say the least.
She rubbed the back of her neck. "Sorry but I can't have you running around the ship." She explained. "Jake would kill me." She said with a slight chuckle.
Jemi heard Chesh smile with her words followed by a little chuckle. "So what's Jake like then?" she asked, trying to clear her mind. After all, she was a prisoner, and she was her captor. Plus, if Jemi ever did want to escape, she'd need to get past Jake who was the one supposed to be keeping the crew together.
"Jake is actually a pretty nice guy for a pirate. He took me under his wing when my merchant ship was raided." She started to explain as she sat down on the ceiling. "Most of the people on this ship are like that. They had a pretty bad life working as a sailor or on a merchant ship, their ship got attacked by Jake and his crew, they got a new life aboard The Zodiac."
"Oh?" Jemi couldn't help to hide the surprise in her voice. "That's…interesting?" A pirate helping others? "I mean- that's good… but also surprising to me." She looked at the purple haired pirate on the ceiling and was a little relieved that someone had helped her, even if it did mean she turned to a life on sea as a pirate. Then she was surprised for thinking that. Why are you relieved for her?
"To be honest it surprised me as well. When my ship was attacked and I got dragged onto this ship I though I was going to get……….you get the idea. But Jake invited me to be part of his crew." Chesh explained.
"And you never thought about leaving?" Jemi wondered aloud. "I mean, you were captured for at least a little while and you basically had the chance to start over, away from the merchant ships."
Chesh shook her head. "This is the closest thing to a family I've ever had. This is my home now. I don't think I'd ever be able to leave. Especially since I have a reward for my head." She explained as she pulled her knees up to her chest.
Jemi bit back a sarcastic reply because she could tell Chesh was serious. "I suppose. Do you think you'd ever do anything differently?" she asked. Talking with Chesh was a great way to pass the time. Who knew how long it'd be before she went anywhere else.
Chesh shook her head. "Other than maybe not being as skeptical when I first met Jake and the crew, nothing." She said. She frowned. It was weird looking at Jemi from upside down but she didn't want to get off the ceiling. An evil grin spread across Chesh's face.
Jemi turned her head to look at Chesh. "Doesn't that give you a headache? Sitting upside down?" she said. She watched as her eyes rolled up and crinkles formed when she grinned. They really bring out her eyes. Then she mentally bashed herself for noticing such small and idiotic details.
Chesh shook her head. "It's not any worse than being sea sick," She pointed out as she waved her hand and made Jemi float up to the ceiling with her.
"Whoa!" Jemi cried as she floated up. A laugh escaped her before she could stop herself. Chesh floated her to the top near her. "Well, I daresay this is more fun than sitting in that boring old cell."
Chesh nodded. With the way Jemi's hair hung it made her so cute. Chesh shook her head. She was a prisoner not someone to crush on. "Do you like being up here?" Chesh asked, trying to play it cool but a blush was creeping across her face.
"Do I like it?" she repeated. "Of course I do!" Jemi couldn't help but be excited. It wasn't like she was flying, but it was still pretty close. She looked at Chesh who was looking a bit flustered. She moved her arms and pretended to fly. "It's the closest to flying I'll ever get. I can see why you prefer the ceiling too."
Chesh smirked. "Flying is overrated. Floating is so much better." She said. Jemi was acting like a bird which made her look even more cute. Why is so so cute? She pushed some of her hair out of her face. Chesh's hair was so long it almost touched the ground.
