He nodded, hiding his face in the shadows of his hood "they couldn't or wouldn't?" he asked, fearing the answer
Reincarnated hatred
"Couldn't… bankruptcy, lost jobs, and debt…. and she was pregnant….." he sighed, "I've been watching them for awhile… things deteriorated a little at first, but they're in good shape now, He did throw me out, but not without some provisions." he said softly, "They wouldn't have survived if I'd stayed…"
"THey threw out the wrong person." rashe said softly, glaring down at the ground and shifting his weight around "They would've survived jst fine without him. Have you seen you're parents recently?"
(I'm assuming the parents are immortal too, they just get to relive their lives over and over again,)
(I wasn't… but okay, FYI I'm making it up as I go, since Marco's actual backstory is very different/unexplored)
"No, been a bit busy prepping for winter, trying to get a job, and helping out people like that lady earlier…" He said softly, "And seriously, I'm okay, so don't get mad at them…"
(oh ok…and same, so forget about the part where the parents are immortal?)
"you know I don't believe anyone when they say they're 'okay'" he muttered "but I'll let it go for now." he added, not wanting to start an argument…again. he sat back down and closed his eyes
(Probably less confusing)
Marco sighed at that, coming over and sitting down, trying to hide from the wind. "Y'know… you're probably right about that…. cause no matter what, everyone you meet is dealing with problems of some sort, whether they show it or not…"
He opened his eyes and nodded "mhm, exactly." he said, scooting closer so his warmth reached marco.
Marco's shoulders relaxed a little at that, grateful for the heat, though he'd never be able to admit it.
"so how bad is this winter? like blizzard we're all gonna die bad or meh boston in january bad?" he asked with a smile
"Hopefully not too bad… otherwise I'll have to move again after setting up some kids with the tarp." he gestured to his 'tent'.
He nodded, sad that Marco might have to leave for the winter. "Hopefully it won't be that bad," he agreed
"I mean, I'll still be around, I'll just have to find another source of shelter so I don't freeze…"
"have you tried finding housing? There's some cheap listings near my area." He suggested
Marco laughed, "You're joking right??" He said, even though he knew Rashe wasn't. "I'm broke, and there's no chance of me getting a job either."
Rashe tilted his head "what's keeping you from getting a job?" He asked
"Bad resume, no one wants to take a guy who doesn't have a home, or insurance… or much of an education…" he said softly.
He nodded in understanding "you can always stay with someone, I'm sure there's people looking for roommates."
"Trust me, no one wants a guy who lives on the streets…." he said softly, bowing his head a little. "Once you're at the bottom, getting back up is anything but easy."
Rashe shrugged "I wouldn't mind a roommate. Plus I think I'm the only one in this world that can deal with you without ringing your neck." He teased "then you can start looking for so.e jobs."
Marco stared at him, surprised the other would even offer. "Y-You would actually….." his voice was completely disbelieving.
Rashe nodded "I'm willing to try, that is if you want,"
Marco stared for a fewmoments longer, "I-I'd be honored to accept the offer…. if you'll have me…"
Rashe smirked "you make it sound as if we're getting formally married or something." He laughed
Marco swatted his leg at that, "As much as I'd rather not live with you, I'm not stupid enough to miss that opportunity."
"mhm sure…You know I can tell when you lie to me," he inked and stood up, rolling his shoulder's and gazing out onto the city "I can't promise a view like this though."
Marco resisted the urge to stare at him, grateful for dark skin that hid his blush as he stood beside him shyly, "I will admit, that is an advantage to being a street rat…"
He growled softly at the name "you're not a rat, annoying at times yes but you're not a rat. What we killed in the allyway the other day, that was a rat."
Marco shrugged, "Hey, my record isn't exactly spotless either…"
"yeah but still, you're nothing compared to that monster." he said "want help packing you're things?"
Marco shrugged, "Leave it," he said softly, grabbing a backpack. "Someone else will find it, and they're gonna need it more than me."
