"She was looking for help in a tavern," John spoke. "I had already had a few drinks, but I helped her anywho. I mustve spilt my drink on myself, because I reeked of it when I woke up. —And don't worry, I slept on the other side of the home."

Henry looked at Jane. “Really? That’s the excuse?”
Jane muttered something not very kind under her breath.
"Trust me, sir. I wouldn't lie to you, I have no incentive," John tried to defend Jane. Internally, he had grown quite fond of her in the very short time they knew one another.
Henry looked at John, then at Jane, suspiciously.
John offered a smile.
Henry sighed. “We,” he said, looking at Jane, “will talk later. If you both will excuse me…” He left. Jane sighed.
John looked over at her, letting out a long-drawn sigh. "Everything will be fine.."
Jane rested her head on his shoulder. “I’m sorry…”
He sighed slowly. Sober now, it was a strange feeling having a woman so close. "We didn't.. Do anything last night, did we?" He whispered fearfully.
"Ex lover from Cuba," Edonine answered briefly.
If he was caught off guard by this reply, it didn’t show on his face. “He’s very impressive. What’s his name, again?”
"Delta," she replied, leaning against the armchair. Delta, on the other hand, pittered furioisly around the round coffee table with his crest raised high.
He sighed slowly. Sober now, it was a strange feeling having a woman so close. "We didn't.. Do anything last night, did we?" He whispered fearfully.
"I don't know. I… I can't remember."
The blood drained from his face until he took a breath.
"I'm sorry for bringing you into this," Jane said softly.
"No, no.. It's.." He looked away, dusty green eyes burdened. "It's okay."
"So… do you actually want to get to know each other now that we aren't… drunk?"
"Preferrably," the redcoat inhaled slowly, pushimg brown hair from his forehead.
Pierre was about to say something in reply, when his hand brushed the coarse fabric of the coach arm. He yanked it back, skin burning.
"Mhm." Edonine gave him a hard look. "I'd warn you, but you won't listen, so…" She shrugged.
"Hi~!" Delta screamed.
(Delta is officially my favourite character)
Pierre gathered both hands in his lap, retaining the last shred of his dignity. "I can't just sit in bed," he protested, perplexed to find that he held no anger towards her despite her side in the war.
Oh hes gonna be p crucial
Because he repeats everything )
"Well, go ahead and walk around. Hurt yourself even more, I mean, it's not like I spent countless, sleepless hours caring for you, sir." The woman breathed a little softer.
The bird climbed up the couch and perched on Pierre's leg, crest raised and repetitively tilting his head at Pierre.
(I see what you're doing here omg)
This put a dent in Pierre's stubbornness. "Oh. I–" He threw a perplexed glance at the bird on his leg. "I'm sorry. You shouldn't have."
"But I should have," she countered. She was smiling now. "I've got nothing better to do,"
"Asks for water," Delta mumbled.
"Preferrably," the redcoat inhaled slowly, pushimg brown hair from his forehead.
She held out her hand. "Jane Brenner."
"Johnathan André," he replied, and as was customary to the way he'd been taught to treat women, he kissed the back of her hand.
"But I should have," she countered. She was smiling now. "I've got nothing better to do,"
"Asks for water," Delta mumbled.
Pierre gave an uncomfortable shrug, feeling strangely immature all of a sudden. "Of course you do. Anything other than tend to the rebel. I'm sorry."
She wiped her face, brushed hair from her eyes. "I'll get started on dinner, then,"
Pierre hesitated, unsure what to do. He looked back, and suddenly realized how…. changed he had been since he'd woken up. Where was his constant anger? Why was the darker part of his mind quieter? Where had his gruffness gone?
"Do you want me to help with anything?"
"Johnathan André," he replied, and as was customary to the way he'd been taught to treat women, he kissed the back of her hand.
She’d been expecting a handshake, but she couldn’t deny that his lips felt nice…
“So why were you at the bar last night?”
"No, you rest up." Edonine replied. "Keep Delta company,"
