He looked sideways unsurely. "Yes.."

“Your voice says it’s not done.”

“Oh.” She looked at her shoes. He didn’t trust her enough yet. It was fine.

"From a man who wanted to marry me," she spoke vaguely, setting down his bowl and sitting beside him.

Pierre blinked, slightly surprised. "Did you end up marrying him?" he said before he could stop himself, wondering if this was the previously mentioned ex lover from Cuba.

John rubbed his arm, "Someday maybe."

She laughed quietly, "No."

Pierre picked up his spoon, waiting for her to give the cue that he could start. "Sorry, that just flew out of my mouth."

“But why not today?” she asked, her fingers walking up his arm.

"It's cool," Edonine dismissed, beginning to eat.

"I.. Don't know how youll react.." Andre admitted.

Pierre took an experimental sip of the soup. "This is really good!"

"Yeah?" She grinned.

"Oh…" Her tone was almost unreadable. If it hadn't been for the glint of sadness in her eyes…

“Definitely,” he affirmed, lifting another spoonful to his mouth. “You’re an excellent cook.”

"There's nobody to contest my love for you," André spoke quietly. "I promise you,"

Edonine lifted her chin with pride. "Well, thank you,"

Pierre smiled at her evident pride. "You're welcome. If you don't mind me asking, do you have any servants?"

"No," she replied in a scoff. "I'm prudently abolitionist."

Pierre raised his hands in surrender. "Sorry, I was just wondering, since you have such a nice house and everything.." he trailed off. "You live alone, then?"

"Yessir," she answered with a soft sigh.

Pierre racked his brain for something to say in response. "Oh," he said finally, wincing at how stupid he sounded.

"I don't mind it," she spoke with a small shrug.

Pierre inhaled, trying to regain his casual demeanour.

She scooped soup into her mouth, while Delta walked around the centerpiece.

Pierre smiled at the sight of Delta. "He is really something else, hm?"

She chuckled lightly, "Without a doubt.."

He carefully reached out a hand to stroke the cockatoo, slightly afraid.

The bird meowed in response.
