Today could not be the worst day to be male. From all the workers wishing him a, “Happy birthday, Princess”, to his own mother wanting him to model the dress for the party that night, today was going very badly so far. All he had to look forward to was seeing Max that evening, but that was still hours away. For now he sulked in his room, staring at the matching suit he had the seamstresses make him. Tonight was going to be a nightmare, but at least he was finally going to see Max. He hadn’t seen him since the night of their first kiss, and he was absolutely dying to spend time with him again, to talk to him, to kiss him. The last week had been awful, all the party preparations. But finally, he was going to see him again.

@gracehustle

Max was basically jumping with excitement when it finally reached the day of the party, working hard and putting the finishing details on his present for Audi after he finished the work he actually had to do. Time seemed to be going by even slower as the day went on though, especially as Max started to get ready for the party. He wanted to look especially good tonight, even combing his hair so it wasn't a mess and helping Ria decorate the box for Audi's gift.

Audi sighed as he started getting ready, showering, and putting on his suit. He looked in the mirror, running his hands slowly through his hair, preparing himself for the night ahead. It was going to be a long party. Thank god Max was going to be there otherwise he might actually blow this thing off.
Stepping out into the hallway, he heard the sounds of the party in the next room, and took a deep breath. Max was there. That’s the only thought that kept him going. His love was in there. Finally ready, he moved into the party room, praying to find Max quickly.

He kissed his sister on the cheek before he left, straightening his suit out one last time and holding the small wooden box in his hands before walking to the castle with a smile. It was a hassle to get inside since the guards didn't recognise him, but he stayed calm and happy the whole time, just thinking of Audi. Once he found Audi everything would be fine, though as he stepped into the room, he knew this task could be a lot harder than he thought. He wasn't deterred though and soon was walking around, his present tightly held in his hands as he looked for Audi's face in the mix of people.

Audi made small talk, bowed to nobles, and picked up a soda (unfortunately he wasn’t old enough to drink yet) as he walked the room, scanning for Max the whole time. After a few minutes he was getting increasingly frustrated and annoyed… and then he saw him.
Holy shit. That’s all he could think in that moment. How in the world could someone look that good in a simple suit? How in the god damn world could come one look that good period? Not that he wasn’t gorgeous before, but he just looked… extra tonight.
With a smirk, he moved to Max’s side. “Hi!”

@gracehustle

When he heard Audi's voice next to him he jumped a little, turning and actually stopping in his tracks as he took in how gorgeous Audi was tonight. Good lord, he looked amazing. Normally Audi looked nothing less than gorgeous, but in that suit and with that freaking smirk, he looked straight from a dream. "Wow…you look amazing," He eventually, his words slow as a grin broke over his face and he pulled him into a tight hug for a moment. Quickly he let go though as he saw others giving him a weird look, though he didn't stop grinning. "I've been looking for you everywhere," He said, then whispering jokingly, "These people are kinda weird, don't think I've seen a real smile yet besides from you."

LeahCat

“Thanks.” Audi grinned back. “You don’t look too bad yourself.” He melted into the hug, finally feeling the comfort and safety that always came from Max. All too soon though it was over, and he pouted a bit, until he heard Max’s last statement. He laughed as he told him, “They are weird aren’t they. I don’t even know most of them, but apparently they’re friends with my parents so, obviously they gotta be here for my birthday right?” Some Duke or Lord or whatever tried to talk to him, but he quickly grabbed Max’s hand and tugged him off to the side. “So how’s your week been? Mines been hell all these preparations. I hate big gathering of people I don’t know, but when you’re royalty it comes with the whole package unfortunately.”

@gracehustle

Max happily let Audi tug him to the side, slipping his present into his coat pocket and trying to think of what he had done all week, "It's been pretty boring, working a lot, wishing time would go faster so it could be tonight and I could see you again." He was still smiling as he nodded, not doubting in the least that getting a party ready was a lot of work. His hand was still held in Audi's too, which was a fact he wasn't going to point out anytime soon since he liked the contact.

LeahCat

(Merry Christmas Eve!! If you celebrate it that is :)
Audi’s grin melted into a soft smile, and he squeezed Max’s hand happily. “I’ve been wanting to see you all week too. I’ve missed you.” He met his eyes, a sweet look on his face. He wanted to kiss him so much right now, but surrounded by people at a party probably wasn’t the best place for it. “By the way, my parents have been wanting to meet you for a while now. Though I don’t think now’s a good time. Maybe later when they’ve had a few drinks in them.” He winked. “Just to make sure they’ll take it well.”

@gracehustle

(Sry it's short)
He laughed and nodded, slightly excited to meet Audi's parents and also nervous as they were the King and Queen, "Maybe waiting is a good idea, I want them to like me." Max looked around at the party and smiled, glancing at Audi, "So, what should we do?"

LeahCat

“You wanna dance?” Audi asked, smirking again, letting go of his hand, before offering it again as was custom. Around them, ladies and gentlemen we’re lining up, and the musicians were preparing. “A line dance is starting. They’re really fun, I’ve learned all the traditional ones and a few of the not so traditional ones. Don’t worry if you don’t know it already this one’s really easy to pick up, it’s for beginners. The ones later’ll be way more difficult.”

@gracehustle

And there was that cute smirk again that took Max's mind off of anything besides Audi. "Sure," He said, taking his hand and smiling at the ground as he admitted, "I'm not a great dancer and I don't know any of these dances, but I'll try my best." Dancing sounded fun though, and it just meant he got to spend even more time by Audi's side.

LeahCat

“Don’t worry, this one’s easy!” Audi assured him, before taking his place opposite Max on the line. Unfortunately he was on the ladies side, which means he would be dancing the ladies part, but that was okay. That’s the part he was most used to anyway. “It starts really slow too, you’ll do great!” The music started, and then they were off! The ladies curtsying, and gentlemen bowing (Audi did bow even if he was dancing the ladies part). They started slow, and every move was meticulous, from the steps to taking the partner’s hand and whirling around.

@gracehustle

Max was a little unsure on his feet as he started, glancing around to make sure he was doing everything correctly and cursing every time his foot even bumped Audi's. This dance was easy enough, a lot of easy repetitive moves that he could catch onto quickly even though he still was extremely inexperienced and clumsy when dancing. He focused on his footing and moves intensely, though he was also sure to look at Audi every so often and give him a smile.

LeahCat

Audi grinned to himself every time he felt a nudge on his foot and heard a muttered curse. Max picked it up easily though, and his heart warmed with pride as he caught his eye and saw a smile. He shot a grin right back, but then was disappointed when they were forced to switch partners. The dance started to get faster though. The moves were still easy and repetitive, but the musicians began to speed up, and the steps became muscle memory. The whirling dancers started blurring, and a wild grin appeared on Audi's face as everything got faster and faster and faster. He finally made it back to Max, and the dance ended with one last abrupt twirl, and he was in Max's arms again.

@gracehustle

Max seemed a little panicked when Audi was swept away from him and he found a girl in his arms that clearly knew this dance by heart. He was still not the best and ended up stepping on her feet several times as the music grew even faster, receiving some dirty looks. The rest of the song swept by though and he couldn't help but smile when Audi was back in his arms. "There you are, you left me alone to fend off these girls," He joked, grinning at his partner and congratulating himself internally for making it through the dance without doing horrible.

LeahCat

“Ahh, I apologize!” Audi still had that wild grin, and he was laughing so much it was hard to catch his breath. He loved dancing so much, especially the harder and more crazy ones that would come later in the night when everyone had downed a few drinks at least. He loved the structure and order it had, but also the spontaneity and wildness as well. “I’m back though! Wasn’t that incredible? I’m thirsty now!” He dragged Max over to the food and drink table and got himself a water.

@gracehustle

His laugh was infections and soon Max was laughing and grinning along with him, "That was pretty incredible." Max laughed and went with Audi to the drink table without complaint, a slightly sneaky grin on his face as he glanced at him and then held up a finger to motion one second. With that, he slipped down to the other end of the table and took two glasses of what looked like champagne, hoping he passed as old enough to drink as he walked back to Audi.

LeahCat

Audi cast him a confused look, but didn’t question what he was doing. His grin turned into a smirk once more as he saw the glasses in Max’s hands. “Oh you’re a bad one, Hammond.” He took the drink, glancing around to make sure his parents weren’t around. They weren’t, and neither was any one else who would know how old he was. With a sly smile, he took a sip, cringing a tiny bit at the sour taste. After a few more sips the taste turned sweet though, and he was already starting to feel more awake.

@gracehustle

Max just chuckled and shrugged, a devilish grin on his face as he handed the glass to Audi and took a sip of his own, "Hey, this is a party. Your party to be precise, you gotta have a little fun." The first sip was very bubbly and sour tasting and his face scrunched up as he tried to get used to the taste, soon he was used to it though and grinned at him, wondering what Audi thought, "That'll be it though, I don't want to have to explain to your parents if you get noticeably tipsy."

LeahCat

(Sorry for the wait, yesterday was my Mom’s birthday)
“Aw, come on!” Audi whined. “You said this is my party. Just a little tipsy?” In all honesty he wasn’t sure if he wanted to be drunk or not, but he kind of wanted to see what it felt like. He had known people who had made terrible choices while intoxicated, and some who had gotten into tough situations or even hurt. But all of that just made him curious. With a pout, he took another sip, enjoying the taste now. “Just a tiny bit?”

@gracehustle

(That's ok! Happy birthday to her!!)
"Hmmm." Max chuckled and took another sip, smiling at the little pout and knowing that he couldn't straight up refuse that, "How about this, we meet your parents first and dance a little more, and then we can have some more. Just promise me that you'll behave. If you get too drunk I'll just bring you to your room so you don't embarrass yourself too badly." It had been a while since he had gotten close to flat out drunk, and he didn't want to break that record tonight and do something crazy while intoxicated, his mind really lost control when he drank too much, leaving his body to act on anything it wanted to do.

LeahCat

“Sounds good!” Audi said cheerfully, downing the rest of his drink. “We can meet my parents now if you like. They’ve probably had a few drinks by now, and in a much better mood. God, my mother was practically seething when I told her I wasn't wearing the dress. It was kind of funny, in a scary sort of way.” He began looking for his parents, scanning the room carefully. A waltz was starting which made things a whole lot harder, but eventually he saw his father talking to some Lords and Dukes over in the corner. “Ooh, my mother’s not with him right now, that’s perfect!” He was about to drag Max over there, but stopped himself. “Do you want to? We can wait, of course, but now’s a good time because my father is much more accepting than my mother.”

@gracehustle

Max drained the rest of the glass and nodded, still slightly nervous to meet his parents since they were the king and queen but smiling anyway, "No, let's go meet him, then we just have to find your mother and we can check that off the list." He set the empty glass down on a table before offering Audi his arm and letting his smile grow wider, "Ready?"

LeahCat

“Alright!” Audi took his arm happily, and began tugging him towards his father. They got to him just as the two other men were leaving, which was perfect timing. “Father!” He waved, remembered he was still holding a champagne glass, quickly set that down, then waved again. “I’d like to introduce you to one of our blacksmiths, Max Hammond!”
“Ah, hello Son!” His father said cheerfully. “I was wondering when I’d see you. And this is Max you say?” His gaze went to Max, looking over him curiously.

@gracehustle

Max nodded and put on his best smile, bowing to the king before speaking, "Pleasure to meet you, your Majesty." He was still arm in arm with Audi and he didn't plan to let go unless he had to. He was still nervous to be meeting the King but so far it was going good and everything seemed to be going fine. Meeting his mother would probably make him more nervous, seeing as she seemed less accepting of Audi.

LeahCat

The King’s gaze went to their interlocked arms, then back up to Audi as a knowing smile played across his lips. “He’s polite.” He elbowed Audi. “I like this one Auds.”
Audi’s eyes found Max’s and before he could stop himself he murmured, “I like this one too, Father.” With a soft, shy smile he looked back to his father. “That’s actually another thing I came to tell you.” Nervousness churned in his stomach, but he wasn’t going to let himself chicken out. He placed a soft kiss on Max’s cheek before saying, “Father… I’d like to introduce you to my boyfriend.”

@gracehustle

Max glanced over at Audi and he blushed when he heard what he murmured. His cheeks flushed even more at being called his boyfriend too, his smile just growing as he looked to the king for what he thought. "If..if that's alright with you, your majesty" He said, stepping a little closer to Audi and trying not to show how nervous he was.

LeahCat

"Of course that's alright!" The King boomed. "I'm glad my son found someone he deems worthy!"
Audi blushed at his father's comments. "He's more than good enough, Father. If anything he deserves much more, but I'm glad he's okay with me." He met Max's gaze again, but this time his eyes went soft, and started flickering down to his lips. The back of his mind reminded him that his father was still standing right there, and that they were at a party surrounded by the biggest gossips ever, but he couldn't help himself. He wanted to kiss Max. He wanted to kiss him so much. But for once he waited, giving Max the choice.
