He looked back over at Audi with a sparkle of happiness in his eyes and met his eyes, biting his lip and debating whether or not to kiss him right then and there. Max saw Audi's eyes flick to his lips and he decided to just go for it, the room full of people fading around him as he turned to face his boyfriend and pressed a light kiss to his lips. "Should we go find your mother now?" He asked softly, only pulling away from the kiss a few inches so he could meet Audi's eyes.

Audi melted into the short kiss, and was disappointed when Max pulled away. And he was extra pouty when he heard what his boyfriend had said. “I really don’t wanna do that,” he whined softly. “She’s gonna be so mean, and she’s gonna misgender me the whole time.”
His father, sensing his part of the conversation was over, left cheerfully with a wave and a, “nice to meet you!” Audi waved back, and then turned to face Max.
“We could leave, and I could give a real tour of the castle!”
Before Max even had a chance to respond to that, a sharp voice cut in.
“Oh, Audrianna darling! You look lovely!” God dammit it was his mother. “Granted you would have looked much prettier in the dress.” She said pointedly, coming to stand by them. “Doesn’t she still look lovely though?”
"I'll correct her when she misgenders you," He replied, turning to the king for a moment and waving goodbye as well before turning back to Audi, "How about-" He was cut off by the voice of the queen and he turned to face her, offering another charming smile and glancing at Audi. "He does look lovely, though I must say, I think the suit looks just as good as the dress would've," He said. It probably wasn't the best thing to say when first meeting the queen and his boyfriends mother, but he wasn't going to let her misgender Audi.
The Queen scoffed. “Audrianna don’t tell me you’ve got this nice boy wrapped up in all your made-up gender issues.”
Audi’s eyes narrowed. He loved Max for standing up for him, but this was something his mother definitely would never take from someone else. “My name is Audi, Mother. And my gender is not made-up, nor is it an issue. It simply changes from time to time. Like right now. Tonight I’m male. And I’d like to introduce you to my boyfriend. Now goodnight!” With that he whirled around and pulled Max away from his scowling mother. It probably wasn’t the best introduction, but it was all the conversation he could stand to have with his mother.
Once they were far enough away, he turned to Max. “I’m so sorry for that. I really appreciate you standing up for me, but nothings going to get through to my mother. And I wish you could’ve had a better introduction. I just can’t believe her. My father gets it easily, why’s it so hard for her?”
Max was slightly surprised as Audi pulled him away, but didn't stop him or interrupt as he started talking. "It's alright, we'll get introduced better eventually. It just bugs me that she can't accept that you're not a female all the time." He shook his head but soon smiled at him again, motioning to the drink table once again, "Now that we got the introductions out of the way though, do you want to get some more to drink and go dance for a while? There's still time to enjoy this party."
Audi was once again reminded by how much he loved this boy. "Sounds great. And… thank you for taking this so well. I'm not exactly easy to handle." With a smile that wasn't exactly sad, he moved his hand from Max's arm where he'd been pulling, to his hand. He slowly led him through the crowd of people, heading back toward the drink table. The music caught his ear though, and he turned abruptly back to see the crowd getting in lines once again.
"Oh Max this is my favorite one!" He faced his boyfriend with bright grin. "Please can we dance?"
He laughed and nodded, squeezing Audi's hand and looking out to the lines of people, "Sure, just no passing me along to someone else unless its required in the dance." Audi looked so happy and it made Max's smile grow as he now tugged his boyfriend back towards the dancing. Dancing still wasn't Max's strong suit and he was nervous that he was going to mess up this dance, but he wanted to do it anyway since it was Audi's favorite.
(yyyyyyyo)
(Hey sorry we had people over and I haven’t been on for like a week sorry for not saying ahead of time)
(That's ok I understand!)
“Nah I’m going to keep you as long as I can.” Audi winked. He took his place in the forming line, across from Max. Bowing again to his boyfriend, the dance took off. This one was a whirlwind of fast movement, and at the beginning Audi felt bad for Max for not knowing it, but he quickly became immersed in his own dance. Disappointingly they were forced to switch partners very soon, as in this dance people moved along the line over and over again very fast. So regretfully, he left Max to the clutches of some Lady or Duchess, but not before sending a smirk his way.
As he was moving he caught the eye of one of his friends, a kitchen girl his age named Lorelei. Making a fast waving motion, he quickly convinced her, and her giggly friend next to her to join the line, which meant he could slip into dancing the male’s part which pleased him.
This dance was much more difficult for Max to even begin to understand, and he made tons of mistakes when he was dancing. He constantly apologized to Audi and seemed worried when he was traded off. The lady he was traded to seemed nice but pitied him as he made mistake after mistake in the dancing. Max glanced over at where Audi would be, surprised but happy when he saw that he joined him in the line of males. It did mean that he wouldn't be paired up with him when they got back around though, which was a little saddening.
Audi was having an absolute ball. The dance was fast, he was twirling around, and he felt amazing. But then he looked over to Max. Saw how many mistakes he was making, saw the look on his face, and made a decision. With a quick tug on his jacket sleeve, he shouted over to him, "Do you want to stop? Because I've done this a million times. We can take a break. Maybe have a few drinks?"
Max looked over him and offered a small smile, listening before shaking his head and shouting back, "No, let's finish this dance, I'll get the hang of it soon." He wanted to stop, but this was Audi's favorite dance and by now his footing was getting a little better. Plus, he was fairly certain he wasn't going to step on too many more ladies feet. It seemed to just get faster though and he had to offer Audi one last smile before going back to focusing on the footing and moves so he didn't mess up terribly.
"Alright!" Audi said cheerfully, refocusing on his own dance. He traveled down the line opposite to the women, moving his feet and whirling around. The end was coming up, and that was his favorite part. It was the fastest, most energetic part of the whole dance, and that was saying something. The music sped up, the footwork got much harder and the twirling dresses became colorful blurs. He worried for Max, considering he was already struggling before. He just had to hope he could handle himself since he had to keep his mind on himself. He took hands, clapped, followed the line down. Until the very last part. You were supposed to end up exactly where you started, but since he had switched parts halfway through that didn't exactly happen. But the good news was that he was directly next to Max and knew the girl he was about to end up with him. And he just so happened to know that particular girl had a crush on the girl he was going to end with. So, catching her eye quickly, he nodded towards his partner. She grinned at him, and before anyone around them realized what was going on, they switched places.
Now this was getting challenging for Max. He still didn't have everything worked out with the moves and as the song sped up he just got more and more confused, going back to apologising to every person he danced with and hoping he didn't look as worried and confused as he was. The other part that was making this difficult was that it was tough to keep up to the speed and not stop to catch his breath. Metalworking was simple compared to the amount of work it took to do this dance. Max hoped the song would end soon as he stepped on the toes of one particularly sweet looking girl, apologising once again and actually hearing a soft, "It's alright," with a giggle before he was transferred away once again. He could see Audi again now, and he smiled hopefully, confused as to why he was back in the female line but hoping that meant they were almost done with dancing.
With one last shift down the line he was in front of Max again, and the music sped up for the final time. Pushing everything he had into moving as fast as possible, everyone's feet blurring beneath them. The ladies (plus Audi) gave one last dramatic twirl, and fell into the waiting arms of their partners, who dipped them in an equally dramatic way. Audi fell breathlessly into Max's arms, cheeks flushed and panting, but grinning wider than he had all night. "That was incredible!" He gasped. "Thank you for doing it with me."
Max was sure he messed up terribly as Audi and him danced, but he did get the last dramatic dip right, smiling at Audi with equally flushed cheeks and breathing heavily. He really wanted to kiss him but didn't know how Audi would react, so he simply replied and left it up to him, "That was really fun, you were right! Would've passed when I stepped on everyone's feet though. And you're very welcome." He did pull him upright though, still holding him like when they were dancing, with his hand around his waist.
Audi, paying no mind to anyone there who might have a cross thing to say about this, had no hesitation. Immediately after Max pulled him upright to face him, he pushed onto his toes and kissed him right on the lips. It didn't last long, but it didn't have to. No matter the length Audi would have loved it just the same. Audi loved him. God, he was in love with him. What a thought that was. To be in love with someone. And after such little time too. And that was something he absolutely couldn't keep to himself even though he knew he probably should. He didn't want to push too far, to act too fast. But before he could stop himself his mouth was blurting out the words, "I love you," and his entire face was flushing red. It was too late now. One way or the other, he would see how Max truly felt.
Somehow Max was both expecting the kiss and surprised by it, his cheeks flushing an impressive shade of red. Even if it was a short kiss, it felt magical and helped him realize just how strongly he felt towards Audi. He was unsure of what to call what he was feeling but he guessed it was love, and instantly he knew that was right. Max had fallen head over heels in love with Audi, within only a few weeks and a few short meetings. "I love you Audi," He said almost immediately after he said it, smiling childishly at their matching flushed faces. The words felt right, and he knew that they were. He, Max the metalworker, had somehow fallen in love with Audi, the most gorgeous person he had ever seen and who also happened to be the prince.
(merp)
(Just goin through and bumping dead rps that I loved to see if you want to continue this)
(Oh my goodness hi! I haven't been on here in forever, and had honestly forgotten about this. It's a pity because I loved this story so much! I'd love to continue it!)
(I would totally be down to continue!)
(Awesome! Do you want to continue from where we left off, or start from someplace new?)
(Up to you! I like the idea of just continuing where we were though, at least for the rest of this scene?)
(Sounds good!)
The confession made Audi's cheeks burn even brighter red, but he couldn't care less. His heart thudded with happiness, echoing in his ears and drowning out the sounds of the party around them. Right now it was just the two of them, standing close, eyes locked, hearts connected. Honestly, if someone had told him that he would meet the love of his life that one fateful day he ran out of the caste, he would've said they were crazy. He would've thought that there was no way in the world he'd ever meet someone interested in him who also accepted him. Max seemed straight out of a dream (although there was nothing straight about him). Standing in front of him, looking more like a prince than Audi ever would, beauty unmatched by anyone.
God, he loved him.
(A+ line XD (Although there was nothing straight about him))
Max wished that he could stay like this forever, an arm around his boyfriend's waist and oblivious to anything outside of the gorgeous person in front of him. The longer he stood though, the more eyes he could sense on them. Especially the queen's stare. "Should we get some more champagne?" He asked quietly, a tiny grin on his face as he confidently pressed a kiss to Audi's forehead, "Before your mother actually shoots daggers at me with her glare?" Getting something to drink after that dance was something he really wanted to do, especially if it let him become just fuzzy enough to forget about anyone but his boyfriend.
(Ha thanks)
"Champagne sounds good!" Audi grinned, heart bursting at how cute his boyfriend was. The comment about his mother made him laugh. "Yeah, she's a b*tch, you kinda get used to it. I'd love to forget about her." He slipped a hand into Max's, squeezing happily, before tugging him back over to the drink table. "Hopefully we'll be able to stay away from her the rest of the night." He looked to the glasses of champagne. "This will probably make me a lot more giggly though, so just be prepared. I've never really had a lot of alcohol before, but I'm guessing I'm one of those people who turn into children when they're drunk." Just imagining himself acting like a child made him laugh.
