When Reed woke up, he startled when he realized what he was sleeping on. He sat up, then remembered where he was and what had happened last night. He assumed the wolf was Skye, so didn’t say anything or run away like he would in a normal situation.
Skye opened one eye when he felt Reed move, a small smirk appearing. You know I wish my brothers would settle that easily he said to Reed silently.
(Bold with Skye means he's speaking telepathically, and generally to only one person unless otherwise stated.)
Reed laughed quietly, smiling.
Skye grinned at that, getting up and stretching like a cat before shifting and hold out a hand to help Reed to his feet.
Reed took it, smiling. “Thanks.”
"No problem" said Skye happily, noting the tired looking pairs that were coming back in from patrol.
"Wanna take a patrol shift with me?" asked Skye.
“Me?” Reed asked incredulously.
"Yeah" said Skye, "things are pretty quiet first thing, besides I don't really wanna wake anyone just yet…"
“Then… sure.” Reed said, slightly unsure.
Skye smiled, "Aw don't look so uncertain" he said, "All we have to do is go for a nice long walk on the edge of the valley." he said shifting, "And you don't even have to do any walking."
“I can walk.” Reed said, not wanting to cause any trouble for anyone.
"It's actually easier if you ride" said Skye padding up beside him, watching him curiously.
“If you say so.” Reed said.
Skye nodded, waiting on Reed to mount.
Reed mounted Skye, still feeling slightly awkward.
Skye waited until he was settled before padding off, keeping his pace slow before speeding up to settle into a light lope.
“So…. what’s your story?” Reed knew that was possibly a dangerous question, but his mind had strayed to Jesse, and he was desperate for a distraction.
"Not sure what you mean by that" said Skye mentally, leaping one of the many small chasms that littered the valley.
“Everyone has a story. Like me and my brother and Jack and Anna and their brother were kidnapped and enslaved. What’s your story?”
"Classic Prince and Pauper I guess" said Skye,
Reed raised his eyebrows. “Pardon?”
"I originally grew up on the city streets…" said Skye, "But now I'm technically the leader of the Nebulae Wolf Pack…."
“Oh…. wow.”
"Yeah.." said Skye, "Took me off guard when I found out my dad was the Alpha of the pack… Took me even more off guard when he stepped down and forced me to take the role!" he laughed at that.
Reed smiled. “That sounds insane. And awesome.”
"Not when you have no clue how to lead a race you know nothing about" said Skye, "At least… that's how it started out"
“How’d you figure out how to lead then?”
He had a lot of help from me! Came the call of a female voice, a young Nebulae she wolf soon caught up to Skye, matching his pawsteps.
Skye's ears flattened in annoyance. Meet my other younger sister, and Beta, Romero. he said with a hint of annoyance.
(Romero has similar fur colors to Skye, but with less purple. Also, Romero is Only related to Skye, she's his younger half sibling on his dad's side, while he's the sibling of Storm, Sirus, Alex, Blazara, and Arthur on the mother's side…..)
