She mumbled in her sleep. "Silly Zenith, Theta's math not a name…oh look a flying sandwich…" It was some nonsensical dream she was having. A soft smile was on her lips though as she nuzzled him a bit.

Zenith does his best to ignore her ramblings. It's not meant for him to hear, so he shouldn't be listening. He sighs once more, glancing down at Evelyn. A small smile adorns his face as he turns back to the city around them. He needs to focus, damn it!
Focus? No. She smiled and in her sleep kissed the air. "Oh Zeni, your lips are so cold…here set them on fire." She then kissed his arm. "See much warmer." She then giggled.

Zenith feels his face flush red. He has no idea what she's saying, but… Zeni? Giggling?
Wait, why is he reacting like this? No, no, he needs to focus. He can't afford to be distracted, no matter how adorable she's being!
She shuffled, and fell right out of his arms, and kinda just flopped onto the cold, uncomfortable, hard roof. She whimpered in her sleep, and curled up into a ball, beginning to shiver.

Zenith grits his teeth, but gets up and grabs Evelyn, careful not to wake her. Quietly, softly, gently, he takes her inside and sets her back on his bed.
"Stay." He whispers, turning to head back to the roof.
She mumbled and latched onto him like a leech. There was no way she was letting go now. Her super strength would make sure of that.

Zenith spends a moment trying to pry her off before realizing its no use. With yet another sigh, he wraps her in a blanket and takes her back up to the roof with him. He's going to keep watch, no matter what dumb things the universe throws at him.
(I am not finished with you Zenith) She nuzzled into his neck. "Mmm…warm…" She said quietly, face pressed into him.

Zenith grips his gun tighter, debating waking her up. He needs to make sure she stays safe, damn it. He can't afford to be distracted! He needs to keep her safe. They may have just met, but he's not willing to lose her. He refuses to lose her.
(Waking her up will get you angrily yeeted off the roof, cussed at, and possibly have something chucked at you.) She kissed his neck softly, and finally settled into a deep enough sleep where she would only occasionally shuffle in her sleep.

Zenith bites his lip, taking a deep breath. This is fine. This is fine. He just needs to concentrate on the city, not on the adorable girl clinging to him. Easy, right?
Wrong. He can't even pay the slightest bit of attention to anything other than her. Who gave her the right to be so cute?
(Then don't wake her up.) She sighed in her sleep, and smiled softly. Who knew what she was dreaming about. Suddenly, her face scrunched up, and she began tossing and turning, whispering no, before she woke up with a scream. "NO!" She sat up, panting, nearly falling out of his arms. She looked around quickly, collecting her bearings, and when she saw him she calmed down, her breaths evening out as she relaxed back into him. "Sorry about that…"

Zenith's gun falls from his grasp, clattering onto the roof and down to the pavement below. But he could care less about the weapon. Right now, his focus is on Evelyn. He quickly wraps his arms around her, pulling her close. "It's okay." He whispers. "Don't apologize. I have nightmares too." He fights back a wince at the memories. "It's okay now. You're with me. No one can hurt you now, I promise."
She whimpered a bit and hid in his neck, breathing him in fully as her arms wrapped around him. "It's just my past…haunts me everywhere…" She said quietly as she pressed her face into him. She was trying really hard to not squeeze him so hard that she broke his ribs, which she would sometimes do.

Zenith gives her a sad smile, despite her not being able to see it. "I know the feeling. But you're safe now. I promise." He pauses a moment. "Pinky promise." He adds.
Her hand slowly slithered out, holding her finger out aloft. She also kissed his cheek and stayed there, all buried into him.

He shakes her pinky with his own. "There, see? Can't go back on it now. You're safe whether you like it or not." He smiles.
She blushed and smiled softly, as her arms returned tightly around him tightly. "Good. Everyone deserves to be safe."

'Especially you' He thinks, but he doesn't voice the thought aloud. Instead, he speaks the next thought that comes to his mind. "Not everyone." He grimaces.
"The only difference between a villian and a hero is whose telling the story." She said as she yawned, nuzzling into him with a wide smile.

Zenith makes a face, but remains silent. He glances down at his fallen gun, silently cursing himself for dropping it, but he makes no move to crawl down to roof to pick it up. He's got Evelyn in his arms, thank you very much. He's busy.
He mentally chastises himself. He can't afford to not be armed! He needs to be able to keep her safe!
But somehow, with her in his arms, he can't bring himself to move.
Screw it, he still has his katana on him, anyway.
She looked down at the gun. "Hm. Hey. Do you REALLY think they're gonna attack us?" She said softly, looking back up at him. (I dunno how to start an attack if you're planning one.)

Zenith glances around. "Yeah. I do. They know how to find us now. They're not going to give up. But…" He trails off, a tremble coming into his voice. "… I won't go back. And- and I won't let them take you there, either. You don't deserve it. No one deserves to be hurt like that. Not even the worst bad guys. No one-" He stops, gritting his teeth.
No. He's Zenith Zagami. He's a hired killer. He's practically immortal. He's- he's-
He's scared. Scratch that, he's terrified. He doesn't want to lose her. Or himself, for that matter.
But he'll be okay.
He's always okay.
