She smiled a little more, loving his laugh.
The Hero shows up at the Villain's doorstep one night // One on One // CLOSED
He smiled faintly, still leaning back into the couch.
She bit her lip softly. “Are… How are you doing?” she asked after a minute.
"I don't know."
She hummed in acknowledgment, nodding a little. “Do you want to talk about it? Or we can change the subject.”
"I don't…" He trailed off.
She sighed a little and nodded. “Ok. I’m sorry if I'm being pushy.”
"It's alright. Sorry. I'm just…" He shook his head.
“Yeah.” she nodded, understanding as he trailed off.
He closed his eyes.
She hummed softly and switched her phone to wireless mode as she stood up, walking over to her desk and opening her laptop.
He was still quiet.
She sighed a little, adjusting her earpiece before checking on her “normal” paying job.
"Jade? I'm sorry I'm not…really doing good at being very communicative right now."
“It’s ok. I’m not doing so good at it either right now.” she chuckled softly. “I… I just don't really want to hang up yet. If you still need me, I mean.”
"Yeah. Thank you."
“You’re welcome.” she smiles softly as she continues to work.
He closed his eyes again.
She hummed a little, just to assure him that she was still on the line.
He listened, eyes still closed.
Jade gave one more thoughtful hum before she actually started humming an actual song.
He kept listening.
She continued to hum as she kept working on computer problems.
He was quiet, closing his eyes.
She stopped humming for a moment as she solved a slightly more complicated problem.
He opened his eyes again, looking up at the ceiling.
“You still there?” she asked softly.
"Yeah. I'm here."
“Ok. Just checking if you fell asleep over there.” she semi-teased.
He laughed a little. "No, not yet."
