(It's a part of her character that you'll discover later.)

"Got anything yet, Roxie?" "Got a lead." "Really?? What is it??" "I'm happy to announce that I've got a main suspect." "How'd you them?" "Suspicious behavior and motivation behind it."

Vaughn walked slowly down the isle. But he could quickly see that someone was crouched there, a younger woman, who motioned for him to get down. He tensed and bent over, making his way to her. “What’s going on?” He mumbled.

“Some guy came in here with a gun, he’s at the register,” the woman whispered.

These were innocent people, they didn’t deserve this. He could take an armed gunman, he had done it before. So he slowly crept closer to the counter.

@Elder-God-Jacks347

"Roxanne!" A breathless voice yelled. "Armed robber on 23rd." "Corner store?" "Where else?" She sighed and grabbed her things, heading out. She burst through the door, gun raised. "Freeze! Drop the weapon, now." Her voice was steely and cold, a cheap scare tactic, yes, but any criminal worth their salt knew to be scared of her.

Vaughn had come up behind the man. The man only seemed to notice him when the woman at the register looked at Vaughn with wide eyes. He had grabbed he man by the shoulders, jerking him backwards. He heard the gun fly off to the side, and scrambled to grab onto it. The man, who was bigger than Vaughn, dragged him back as soon as his fingers latched onto it. He twisted, kicking the man in the head with his shoe to get free. He stumbled to his feet, blood dripping from his nose from where the man had struck him as he fell. He pointed the gun at the man, now, breathing heavily now as addrenaline continued to flood his nerves. His finger had been in the trigger, the whispers musing for him to pull it. But at the sound of the familiar voice, his head whipped towards her. He thought best to comply, and he dropped the gun to the floor.

Her eyes were unyeilding and dark, glancing between he two. "Both of you on the ground, hands behind your head. I've shot a lot of people in my time and I will not hesitate to add you to the list."

Vaughn mentally cursed to himself. He glanced at the woman he had spoken to as he got onto the ground with his hands behind his head. “Officer?” The cashier spoke up. “The black haired man didn’t do anything wrong. He helped me..” his eyes flicked to the middle aged woman for a moment.

@Elder-God-Jacks347

"Maybe he did help but he is a suspect for a different crime so I treat them the same." She was known as the Ice Detective because she was always cold and harsh to everyone. And she didn't do anything to try and dispel these rumors. At this point, backup came in and handcuffed them both, sounding off their Miranda Rights by memory. She holstered her pistol but didn't take her steely gaze off them.

The woman seemed confused, and Vaughn’s looked surprised. He was lesd out in handcuffs. This is what you get for being a hero, the whispers hissed, and he shook his head to himself.

"Take them to the station, I'm grabbing a drink." "That whiskey addiction is going to kill you, Roxanne." "I didn't know Niall had a clone." She snapped. The officer raised an eyebrow. "He's right though, the drinks and smoking are going to ruin your life." "Ruin my life?? Oh no, my life was ruined when someone murdered my sister!"

Vaughn heard Roxanne say that, and he looked over at her. Her sister too? His jaw clenched at the thought of Adeline as he got into the police car.

@Elder-God-Jacks347

"Your sister was crazy." "What was that?" Her entire stance shifted from tense to murderous. "U-Um, I-I…" "You have no right to talk about Jacelyn like that. My sister was an underappreciated genius." "Y-Yes ma'am." She sighed, running her hands through her hair.

Vaughn had watched Roxanne from out the police car window. He frowned lightly, blowing his hair from his eyes partly. He shifted in the cuffs, feeling them dig into his wrists.

@Elder-God-Jacks347

"Send the robber to the cell but put the other in my office." "Handcuffed to the chair?" "Well of course." She glanced at him, her eyes never losing its cold and emotionless stare.

Vaughn shifted his gaze away when she looked at him. He blinked his grey eyes a few times, letting out a sharp breath.

@Elder-God-Jacks347

"Detective, are you sure you're okay?" I've haven't been okay since Jace died… "Yes I'm sure. Now get them out of here." He nodded and drove off, leaving her alone on the sidewalk.

Vaughn shifted when the car started. He looked out the window and shut his eyes for a moment, breathing out softly.

@Elder-God-Jacks347

She stood there for a couple minutes, just staring off into the distance, before heading after the car. 10 minutes later, she walked into the station. "Did they do as asked?" "Of course. He's waiting for you." "Good."

Vaughn had each of his wrists cuffed to either arm of the chair. He tugged on them, testing how strong they were as he waited.

@Elder-God-Jacks347

She walked into her office, shutting and locking the door behind her. "I wouldn't do that if I were you."

Vaughn looked up at Roxanne, jaw clenched. “What exactly am I here for?” He asked, fingers twitching.

@Elder-God-Jacks347

"Suspect to 6 different murders from the past 3 months." She sat in the chair across the desk from him, her face staying neutral as always.

“Excuse me?” Vaughn asked with a frown. “That is absolutely insane. How am I tied to this?” He asked.

@Elder-God-Jacks347

"Is it? Is it really?" She pushed four articles across her desk. "Then explain these." The articles claimed he was a madman, a murderer, how he'd been linked to different killings across twelve towns.

Vaughn frowned as he read those. “Those mention nothing about me,” he said. “You can’t pin this on me without proper evidence. That doesn’t include articles from the local news.”

@Elder-God-Jacks347

"Oh you think I'm done? There's also surveillance video of a certain person sitting across from me dragging someone down a back alley only to return alone and covered in blood. On more than one occasion."

@Desvelarse pets

“Mind showing me those videos?” Vaughn asked. The whispers screamed for him to try to attack her, slit her throat and leave her to bleed. No, he thought. I don’t hurt women.

@Elder-God-Jacks347

She spun her laptop around and clicked play. The video showed exactly as she told him. Her eyes stayed unblinking and cold.

Vaughn squinted at the video. “So I look like the male in the video. There could be hundreds of white, black haired males in this town.”

@Elder-God-Jacks347

"Are you sure about that?" She clicked to a different video, this time in color. "Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but that's you, is it not?"
